About the job

At Scaleway, we provide a wide range of products to our customers, including dedicated servers, virtual and bare metal cloud servers, storage solutions, and more. The Hardware Department is central to our infrastructure, managing over 100,000 servers across our data centers. This department handles hardware activities from qualification to prototype, tool development, hardware support, and rack level design.

The Hardware Dev team develops in-house tools used during qualification phases, quality checks, and pre-production activities. Their mission is to automate deployments, enhance quality, reduce time to market, and optimize hardware asset costs.

As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee your team of engineers and contribute to global engineering efforts. The role balances managerial responsibilities with hands-on technical work.

Profile recherché

• Experienced with mentoring technical profiles
• Background in team management or leadership
• Proficient in high-level reporting, communication, synthesis, and documentation
• Capable of anticipating issues and thinking proactively
• Good knowledge of computer hardware, servers, network equipment
• Understanding of server administration (firmware, UEFI, BMC, PXE, etc.)
• Network skills and IPMI/Firmware/HW components knowledge
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
• Excellent team spirit and leadership qualities
• Curious, meticulous, and methodical
• Fluent in English
• Technical skills: Python, Debian-based Linux, PostgreSQL, Gitlab, CI/CD, Microservices, Docker, Jira, Confluence, Ansible, REST/gRPC APIs, Nginx

Responsibilities

• Organize the technical roadmap with the Hardware VP
• Manage and prioritize the team backlog
• Participate in tool development and coding projects
• Introduce new ideas and technologies for efficiency
• Coordinate with product teams, datacenter, production, and deployment teams
• Facilitate collaboration across engineering teams
• Lead transversal initiatives within the Engineering Manager Guild
• Support and develop the DevOps team (career growth, training, compensation)
