About this team and role :

Are you excited about web technologies and the applications built on them that enrich users’ lives? Do you have a passion for helping engineers do their best work and grow in their careers?

We are hiring for two Engineering Manager positions :

  • Engineering Manager for the DOM team, responsible for the Gecko implementation of web standards including HTML, CSS, WebAPI, and WebAssembly that powers websites people use via Firefox.
  • Engineering Manager for SpiderMonkey Javascript team, responsible for Mozilla's Javascript engine and Javascript standards (ECMAScript), which power the web experiences for Firefox users.

Both of these teams are geographically distributed, but also have some team members in the Mozilla Berlin office. Working virtually and in the open is the norm.

What you’ll do :

  1. Manage a team of software engineers working on storage, background, and system-level Web APIs and standards, or the SpiderMonkey Javascript engine and related standards
  2. Mentor and guide a diverse team of engineers, inspiring collaboration, growing their careers, and empathizing with their needs
  3. Own the team roadmap, and work closely with platform peer managers, product management, and technical leads to manage risks, balance resources, and clear blockers
  4. Assign work to team members according to their abilities, while collaborating to deliver major initiatives on clear timelines
  5. Ensure high-quality, maintainable software delivery
  6. Collaborate openly with the open-source community

What you’ll bring :

  2. Proven skills leading a diverse engineering team, mentoring members with different skill sets

  4. Software engineering background to drive technical decisions and engage with engineers at all levels
