Job summary

Parallel is building AI agents to help healthcare organizations automate administrative tasks and unlock revenue, starting with medical coding. Our first agent automates coding, freeing up time for medical teams to focus on patients.

Based in Paris, we are backed by top investors and growing fast. You will lead the engineering stream, shape technical direction, and write code while growing a team from 10 to 20+ as we scale our platform across hospitals.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience, including at least 2 years managing an engineering team.
• Managed 4–5+ people and owned both performance and people development.
• Background in full-stack software engineering or data and continuing to build.
• Experience in startups or scale-ups with high ownership expectations.
• Management is a lever for impact, not just a title; hands-on coding encouraged.
• Autonomous and pragmatic; delivery over perfection.
• French-speaking; working in Paris region is assumed.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage engineers in your stream (1:1s, feedback, growth, performance).
• Own a stream end to end as its Stream Owner in collaboration with the PM.
• Be a hands-on leader: about 50% coding and 50% management in early months.
• Maintain squad tech culture: code quality, rituals, standards, knowledge sharing.
• Onboard new engineers and ensure smooth handoffs as teams evolve.
• Collaborate daily with PMs, Ops and other Stream Owners to align priorities.

Today, up to 25% of healthcare spending is lost to manual, repetitive administrative tasks. Legacy software hasn't helped: it has made work slower, more complex and more frustrating for care teams.

Context

Parallel closed a $20M Series A with Index Ventures, is deployed in 40+ hospitals, and is scaling fast. Founders Paul Lafforgue (Polytechnique, ex-Meta, ex-McKinsey) and Chris Rydahl (who previously built Hublo, Europe's largest healthcare staffing platform) are based in Paris with the team.

Our tech team is 10 people today, all reporting directly to the CTO — and it will double by 2027. A flat structure got us here, now we need managers who stay close to the code to get us there.

The team is organized in streams, each run by a PM and a Stream Owner: Coding, Extraction, and Activity (activity steering, dashboarding, and our assistant products).

Your mission

• Directly manage the engineers of your stream (AI Engineers, Software Engineers, Forward Deployed Engineers): 1:1s, feedback, growth, performance.

• Own a stream end to end as its Stream Owner: drive its technical direction and delivery with your PM.

• Be a hands-on leader. Expect roughly 50% hands-on / 50% management — a bit more hands-on in your first months.

• Be responsible for your squad's tech culture: code quality, rituals, standards, knowledge sharing.

• Onboard new engineers and be the relay when the team changes hands.

• Work daily with PMs, Ops and the other Stream Owners to keep priorities aligned.

• In your first months, you are a trusted Stream Owner: you know your stream's code, clients and roadmap inside out.

• Your team ships reliably and at pace, and every engineer knows what's expected of them and how they're growing.

• New hires are productive fast, thanks to the onboarding and culture you put in place.

• Over time, your role grows beyond one stream: you help shape how the whole tech org scales.

This job is for you if

• You have 5+ years of experience, including at least 2 years managing an engineering team.

• You've managed 4–5+ people and owned both their performance and the people side (feedback, growth, tough conversations).

• Your background is strong full-stack software engineering or data — and you still love building.

• You've worked in startups or scale-ups and thrive in a fast, high-ownership environment.

• You see management as a way to have more impact, not as a title: you're happy to own a stream and write code.

• You are autonomous and pragmatic: done beats perfect at this stage.

• You are French-speaking.
