Description du poste

Institut Curie is a major player in the research and fight against cancer. It consists of a Hospital group and a Research Center of more than 1000 employees with a strong international representativeness. The objective of the Research Center is to develop basic research and to use the knowledge produced to improve the diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics of cancers as part of the continuum between basic research and innovation serving the patient.

Laboratory

The engineer will work in the Molecular Mechanism of Chromosome Dynamics group headed by Daniele Fachinetti.

The project

The selected candidate will study the causes and consequences of centromere aberrations in cancer using interdisciplinary approaches in cell and cancer cell models. The selected candidate will work together with members of the Fachinetti group to elucidate the repair mechanisms acting at broken centromeres. One of the tasks will be to develop novel imaging approaches to detect chromosome translocations.

Activity description

  • Cell culture, clone isolation and characterization, treatment with various compounds;
  • Genome editing with CRISPR / Cas9 technology and lentivirus approaches;
  • Microscopy techniques (live cell imaging, super resolution, multicolor FISH for karyotype analysis);
  • Implementation of the digital droplet PCR for measuring repetitive elements;
  • Development of expansion microscopy on metaphase chromosomes;
  • Molecular biology assays (DNA, RNA and protein extraction-Implementing, cloning);
  • Data analysis;
  • Communication of results at meetings.

Training and Skills required

Candidates must hold an engineering degree or a master's degree in biology. Previous expertise in microscopy, in the usage of tissue culture models and molecular biology are recommended. Professional English level is required.
