Job summary

Eutelsat is seeking an experienced End-to-End Functional Architect to define and coordinate the functional architecture of complex satellite communication systems and services.

You will translate service needs and use cases into coherent architectures, allocate functions across space, ground, and network domains, and collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and partners to maintain architectural consistency throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of relevant experience in end-to-end functional architecture.
• Master’s degree or PhD in telecommunications, electrical engineering, computer science, or related field.
• Experience decomposing and allocating functions across multiple system elements or engineering domains.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications system architecture and functions interactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience with satellite communication systems, non-terrestrial networks or LEO/MEO/GEO satellite constellations.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the end-to-end functional architecture for assigned services, capabilities and operational use cases.
• Develop end-to-end functional chains describing how services are orchestrated, established, delivered, maintained, monitored and terminated across the system.
• Identify the system functions required to support each service and define their relationships, dependencies, states and interactions.
• Allocate functions across the relevant user, service, 5G, network, space, ground and operations domains.
• Define the functional boundaries between system elements and ensure responsibilities are clearly allocated without gaps or duplication.
• Define end-to-end functional behaviour for nominal operation, degraded modes, failure conditions and recovery scenarios.
• Define the information exchanged between functions and establish interface requirements.
• Coordinate architecture and maintain the baseline for assigned scope.
• Resolve cross-domain architecture issues spanning subsystems, suppliers and teams.
• Assess changes for consistency with end-to-end functional architecture.
• Lead or contribute to architecture trade studies and governance reviews.
• Provide guidance on interpretation of the functional architecture to engineers and partners.
• Ensure traceability between services, use cases, functions, requirements and interfaces.
• Work with verification teams to define end-to-end verification scenarios.
