The Salesperson is a VP or Director-level position, based in Paris, selling Emerging Markets credit products to European based real money and hedge fund clients. The salesperson will work within a broader Emerging Markets Credit and Rates sales team, with their primary focus being on Credit. In that role, they can expect 75% of their time to be spent on secondary market trading and 25% on the marketing and execution on Citi led primary market offerings. The Salesperson’s secondary focus will be to support and back up their team members on Local Markets Rates.
Responsibilities:
- Refine and implement sales/marketing strategy to improve Citi's client footprint and maximize associated revenue while working with management/colleagues to establish a clear marketing plan with defined priorities, market penetration and revenue goals
- Leverage contact network, understand client needs, introduce the Citi offering, convince clients to adopt it and increase client satisfaction and Citi revenue
- Travel to the various European cities in which clients are based, regularly bringing Citi Emerging Markets resources (Trading, Research, Syndicate) to the clients for face to face interactions
- Forge a relationship with salespeople in Paris and the other hubs in order to leverage Citi's franchise and source relevant buying and selling opportunities for clients
- Work in close partnership with EM Credit traders in Hong Kong, London and New York to assist them in recycling market risk and sourcing value added trades from clients
- Assist the Syndicate and Debt Capital Markets teams in the three regions on new bond issues they are bringing to the market, ensuring clients are aware of the pipeline of deals Citi is leading and managing the clients’ orders in the deals they choose to participate in
- Mentor the AVP currently sitting in Paris who will be acting as the main back-up for European clients
- Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
- Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
- Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation
- Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you
- Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
Qualifications:
- Sufficient prior relevant experience
- Experience in a client-facing role, having strong relationships with key clients
- Sales experience at a financial services organization
- Proven interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Must have or be able to obtain required licenses
