Ascendance Inc. is seeking a senior avionics/embedded systems architect to own the onboard calculator architecture and ensure robust HW/SW integration for flight-critical systems.

You will lead supplier discussions, coordinate with the onboard software team, and drive safety analyses within DO-254 guidelines.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in avionics/digital systems/robotics.
• Experience in software engineering for embedded calculators, flight computers and networks.
• Experience with real-time operating systems, ARINC 653 is a plus.
• Ability to work across software levels and integrate multiple components.
• Experience with software engineering methods, CI and automation.
• Experience with avionics standards DO-178C/DO-331/DO-297/AMCs.
• Knowledge of aeronautics communication protocols ARINC 429, CAN, LIN, FlexRay.
• Familiar with DO254/DO-160 requirements.

Responsabilités

• Own the architecture of the onboard calculator and propose rationalized improvements.
• Lead supplier discussions and ensure on-time delivery of equipment.
• Coordinate with onboard software team to accommodate software requirements.
• Finalize architecture and trade-offs with a rationalized methodology.
• Support safety analysis on the system.
• Specify and design test means and lead test campaign setup to comply with DO-254.
• Finalize make-or-buy strategy, supplier benchmarking, and management to ensure delivery quality and costs.
• Support physical integration of the calculator into test benches and aircraft prototype considering mechanical, thermal, EMC/EMI.

Your role:

Reporting directly to the Software Technical Leader, you'll be at the core of our avionics systems. Providing control, communication, smooth HW/SW interactions and data exchange to guarantee reliable flight operations, by respecting the functional requirements as well as aeronautics authorities constraints. You will integrate the software/system requirements onto the proposed onboard core computers architecture.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Owning the architecture of the onboard calculator and propose rationalized improvements;

• Lead supplier discussions and follow-up to ensure on-time delivery of the equipment;

• Coordinate with the onboard software team to accommodate their software requirements;

• Finalizing architecture and technology trade-offs with rationalized methodology;

• Supporting safety analysis on your system;

• Specify and eventually design test means for your system as well as lead the associated test campaign setup with potential external partners to comply with DO-254 standards;

• Finalizing make or buy strategy, supplier benchmarking, selection, and management to ensure delivery in time / quality / costs;

• Supporting the physical integration of the calculator into the test benches up to the aircraft prototype taking into account mechanical, thermal, EMC/EMI constraints.

The job has been made for you if you:

• Have a strong experience (10+ years) in avionics/digital systems/robotics;

• Have extensive knowledge in software engineering specifically applied to embedded calculators, flight computers and communication networks;

• Have extensive experience in real-time operating systems (ARINC 653 would be an advantage);

• Be able to work at all software levels, coordinate the integration of multiple software components and subsystems, and solve complex problems;

• Have experience in software engineering methods, continuous integration and automation;

• Have experience in avionics standards : DO-178C/DO-331/DO-297/AMCs…

• Know aeronautics communication protocols (ARINC 429, CAN, LIN, FlexRay etc.);

• Are used to design and develop systems under DO254/DO-160 requirements.
