Job summary

HyLight in Paris (France) seeks a software-focused Embedded Engineering Intern to contribute to the HyLighter's software architecture. You will work on open-source drone software such as PX4 and QGroundControl and help shape onboard and ground systems.

Under CTO guidance, you will develop hardware abstractions, implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure reliable flight software. You will gain hands-on experience with embedded platforms and modern development workflows in a fast-growing aerospace

Qualifications

• Final-year Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
• Previous internship(s), academic projects, research, or personal projects involving embedded development, software architecture, robotics, drones, or autonomous systems.
• CI/CD exposure through academic or project work (pipelines, automated testing, build/releases).
• Experience with PX4, MAVLink and QGroundControl is a strong advantage from projects or teams.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to software architecture of embedded systems (onboard and ground).
• Develop hardware abstraction layers for sensors, actuators and subsystems.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and automated tests for flight software.
• Work with PX4: extend flight software and QGroundControl to fit HyLight needs.
• Enhance robustness of avionics and embedded software through testing and debugging.
• Participate in system architecture studies for future features and payload integration.
