Dans ce rôle, vous serez responsable du développement de prototypes matériels et de solutions embarquées pour un projet de détection de réseau. Vous collaborerez avec des équipes multidisciplinaires pour concevoir, tester et valider des systèmes qui répondent aux exigences du projet.   • Expérience en conception de circuits et développement de systèmes embarqués.
  • Compétences en tests et validation de matériel, y compris HIL.

Context

  • Nexans has initiated a major strategic shift from a cable generalist to a pure electrification player all along the value chain, from generation to usage through transport and distribution. In particular, Nexans will further enhance its leading positioning in interconnections and offshore wind farm connections by delivering full solutions and cutting edge technologies. In Power Distribution and Building, Nexans will further develop its position from cable and accessories producer to delivering solutions for the management for the grid (growth, replacement, smart exploitation, asset management).
  • In line with this strategy, Nexans reinforces its innovation and R&D in order to develop New electrical solution offers.
  • The electrical engineering department is working with the building design lab, grid design lab, electrical lab and the FabLabto deliver new offers.
  • The electrical engineering department is gathering (i) MV/HV dielectric materials development team, (ii) electrical test lab, (iii) some new offer project leaders.

Purpose

The new Electronics and Embedded Systems Engineer is in charge of:

  • Developing hardware prototypes and embedded systems solutions for the Grid Sensing project.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and technical assessments to determine the most suitable hardware components and architectures.
  • Collaborating with the Grid Sensing project team to design and implement innovative hardware solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Testing and validating hardware designs to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Integrating hardware components with existing systems and infrastructure in medium voltage underground meshed networks.
  • Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance during the implementation and deployment phases.
  • Bringing technical expertise about the electrical grid and building systems to inform project planning and execution.
  • Participate in problem-solving and idea generation sessions to identify innovative solutions and address technical challenges effectively.

Areas of responsibility

The Electronics and Embedded System engineer will participate in the project activities. The project activities are organized around the different phases of the new offer under development:

  • Hardware System part :
    • Hardware Design and Development: Leading the design and development of hardware prototypes and embedded systems solutions, ensuring they meet project requirements and performance standards.
    • Technical Architecture: Defining the technical architecture for hardware components and systems, guiding the overall design approach and integration strategy.
    • Research and Exploration: Conducting research and exploration activities to evaluate new hardware technologies, components, and methodologies, informing decision-making and innovation within the project.
    • Problem Structuring and Resolution: Structuring technical challenges and questions related to hardware development, facilitating effective problem-solving and adaptation as needed based on insights and feedback.
    • Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting: Organizing and structuring feedback from stakeholders regarding hardware requirements and performance, and providing clear and concise reports to project stakeholders to keep them informed and aligned.
    • Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to leverage expertise and resources, accelerating hardware development and maximizing project success.
  • Firmware System part :
    • Interface Design: Collaborating with the firmware team to design hardware interfaces that seamlessly integrate with the system firmware, ensuring efficient communication and functionality.
    • Component Selection: Working closely with the firmware team to select hardware components that are compatible with the firmware requirements, optimizing performance and reliability.
    • Testing and Validation: Coordinating hardware and firmware testing and validation activities to ensure compatibility, functionality, and reliability of the integrated system.
    • Debugging and Troubleshooting: Collaborating with the firmware team to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware-related issues and firmware interactions, facilitating efficient problem resolution.
    • Optimization and Performance Tuning: Working together to optimize hardware-firmware interactions for improved performance, efficiency, and resource utilization.
    • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Collaborating on documentation efforts to capture hardware-firmware integration details, facilitating knowledge sharing and future development efforts.
  • Pilot testing:
    • On-site Installation Support: Providing on-site support during the installation of hardware components, ensuring proper setup, configuration, and integration into the existing infrastructure.
    • Deployment Coordination: Collaborating with the deployment team to coordinate the rollout of hardware solutions, overseeing logistics, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure smooth deployment.
    • Performance Monitoring: Monitoring the performance of hardware systems during pilot testing, collecting data and feedback to identify any issues or areas for improvement.
    • Troubleshooting and Resolution: Participating in troubleshooting efforts to address any hardware-related issues that arise during pilot testing, working closely with the deployment team and stakeholders to implement timely resolutions.

Required skills, know how & experience

  • Electronics and embedded systems engineering degree
  • Proficiency in hardware design and development, including schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection.
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture and design principles.
  • Experience with hardware testing and validation techniques, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and debugging.
  • Knowledge of firmware development methodologies and programming languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols commonly used in embedded systems, such as SPI, I2C, UART, and Ethernet.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including firmware engineers, software developers, and product managers.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and firmware issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for hardware and firmware development, such as ISO 9001 and IEC 61508.
  • Experience with project management and coordination, including planning, scheduling, and tracking hardware development tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effectively conveying technical concepts and collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
