Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of facility electrical engineering design experience.
  • At least 4 years of experience with REVIT/AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Experience with laboratory clients like USDA, ARS, CDC is highly desirable.

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory / Facility Electrical Engineer for our Life Science business unit in Kanata.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for facilities and laboratories for government, university, and private clients
  • Provide conceptual and detailed design for power distribution, emergency power, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, telecommunications, fire alarm, security, and special systems
  • Prepare supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications
  • Meet with clients to validate scope of work and prepare fee proposals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accuracy, schedule, and budget adherence
  • Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Manage all project phases from programming through construction administration

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of facility electrical engineering design experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
  • At least 4 years of experience with REVIT/AutoCAD or similar software
  • Experience with electrical calculation tools (e.g., AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP, EasyPower) is desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of electrical codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEEE
  • Experience with laboratory clients like USDA, ARS, CDC is highly desirable
  • Canadian Citizenship required; local candidates preferred

Physical and Other Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work in an open environment
  • May need to lift up to 20 lbs
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to travel as needed
