Process Safety Environment Specialist (F / M)

The Business Division Project Operations and its Engineering Department are seeking a Process Safety Environment Specialist (F / M).

Axens Group offers a comprehensive range of solutions for converting oil and biomass into cleaner fuels, producing and purifying major petrochemical intermediates, chemical recycling of plastics, natural gas treatment and conversion, water treatment, and carbon capture. Context :

The Business Division Project Operations specializes in process licensing, design, and supply of process furnaces and modular units for refineries and petrochemical sites. The Engineering department handles engineering studies and provides technical support for new equipment development.

Missions :

The Process Safety and Environment Specialist is involved in all phases of process technology licensing, focusing on industrial safety related to processes licensed by Axens. Your role is to support various departments and subsidiaries as a technical referent for process safety and environmental issues, reporting to Engineering Management and specialists.

Your main missions will include :
  • Supporting process engineers and customers by verifying principles of intrinsic safety, preventive measures, and risk mitigation within process development documents.
  • Participating in HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA reviews with clients upon request.
  • Supporting Engineers from Technical Assistance, Start-up, and other departments.
  • Validating safety aspects of process documents such as Process Study Guidelines.
  • Ensuring compliance with new safety and environmental regulations in design.
  • Incorporating feedback on safety and environmental protection into processes.
  • Updating specifications and study guides related to safety devices against overpressure.
  • Assisting HSE design specialists in modular projects and proprietary equipment.
  • Maintaining the Process Safety library and classification of safety information.
  • Proposing adaptations to process plans to meet regulatory changes.
  • Incorporating feedback from start-up and technical assistance departments to improve safety and environmental practices.
  • Contributing to the development and updating of technical standards and internal instructions related to process safety and environment.
  • Conducting training sessions for Process Engineers on safety and environmental topics.
Knowledge and Required Level :
  • Graduated chemical engineer with strong knowledge of processes, process control, and safety.
  • Experience in safety design within engineering is advantageous.
  • Ability to interpret technical, hazard, and operational data, and apply risk assessment methods.
  • Minimum of 15 years in process safety activities, preferably in downstream oil and gas engineering.
  • Experience in installation and commissioning is a plus.
  • Curiosity and commitment to continuous skill development.
  • Expertise in safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, etc.
  • Fluent in technical English; French language skills are appreciated.
  • Strong communication, analytical skills, and networking abilities.
  • Proactive, decision-maker, and defender of your choices; willingness to travel internationally on short notice.
