Job Description:

Higher Capital has been retained as the search partner for a new role to lead operations across a European student accommodation platform. We are looking for an individual with a strong track record in operational management of multi-site assets. Candidates with experience in a single country who wish to expand into multi-asset portfolios are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational & Strategic Leadership: Lead our European operational teams to achieve performance targets across leasing, revenue, and management. Drive the creation and rollout of scalable standard operating procedures to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure consistent experiences. Oversee property budgets, forecasts, capital planning, marketing strategies, and staffing. Collaborate with regional leaders to assess performance, identify risks, and implement corrective actions. Ensure adherence to policies and audits for operational consistency and compliance.
  2. Financial Management: Review and approve key contracts, capital expenditures, and revenue-enhancing initiatives. Work with asset managers and financial stakeholders to analyze property performance, provide recommendations, and align assets with ownership goals. Collaborate with finance and senior leadership to provide data-backed insights into operational performance.
  3. Market and Business Strategy: Translate complex market dynamics into actionable business plans.
  4. Leadership and Team Development: Build and develop high-performing teams through coaching and accountability. Foster a culture of transparency, ownership, and continuous improvement. Promote cross-functional collaboration and support talent development, succession planning, and performance management.
  5. Partnership and Growth: Collaborate on property acquisitions, third-party growth, and joint ventures. Lead onboarding and integration of new assets or contracts. Seek operational innovations to enhance the student experience and strengthen brand value.

Required Experience:

  • Proven operational leadership, preferably in student housing.
  • Experience managing property management teams in a high-growth environment.
  • Expertise in financial planning, real estate, and revenue strategy.
  • Experience in building and scaling teams and systems supporting growth.
  • Deep knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and capital planning.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Support for acquisitions and disposals is a plus but not essential.

Location options include Paris or Germany (Frankfurt, Berlin), with travel as required.
