An established industry player is seeking a seasoned professional to lead ESG initiatives and environmental assessments in the AFOLU sector. This role requires a PhD or Master's degree and extensive experience working with local communities. You will contribute to strategic vision, manage stakeholder engagement, and ensure compliance with environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of land-use rights and be well-versed in co-benefits management tools. Description du poste

Activités

  • Participate in the construction of the strategic vision
  • Contribute to the selection process of operations to build a balanced portfolio of activities to achieve the carbon credit production objectives
  • Ensure that deliverables are consistent with TotalEnergies and TENBS strategy
  • Contribute to formulating TENBS positioning and engagements in terms of ESG, Co-benefits, and Benefit Sharing Mechanisms
  • Take part in developing stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Participate in reputational risk management by preparing public communications and Q&A for signed operations

Conduct the technical studies required for project development and operations: Human and Land-Use Rights, Environmental & Social Impact Assessments, Gender

  • Work closely with Business Development and Carbon Expertise to structure investment opportunities
  • Lead ESG development studies (prospect, preliminary/feasibility, conceptual or pre-project), Due Diligences, and Environmental & Social Impact Assessments, co-benefits certifications (CCB, SD Vista, Gold Standard, FSC…)
  • Prepare study specifications (content, deliverables, schedule, budget)
  • Coordinate activities and contributions of external service providers during studies
  • Define and lead comparative analyses to determine optimal forestry and agricultural itineraries considering Human Rights, FPIC, Governance, Social/Environmental/Biodiversity co-benefits, Benefit Sharing Mechanisms, and synthesize recommendations
  • Participate in data-rooms and due diligence activities initiated by business development

Participate in ESG follow-up of signed operations

  • Supervise application of Environmental & Social Management Plans and tools
  • Work with Carbon Expertise team for validation and verification audits, co-benefits standards (CCB, SDVista, Gold Standard, FSC), managing Validation & Verification Bodies and Developers
  • Develop tools and processes for Monitoring, Reporting & Verification (MRV) of co-benefits

Actively contribute to team growth in knowledge and skills

  • Conduct competitive intelligence on biodiversity, environment, social issues, methodological and technological innovations, sector benchmarks, FPIC, HCVs, and other ESG topics in the AFOLU sector
  • Share know-how and feedback

Represent the Company when necessary (technical committee, conferences, seminars)

Profil du candidat

  • PhD/Master's/Engineering degree in environment, social science, land-use rights, sustainable development, forestry, agriculture, or conservation
  • 10 to 15 years of experience, with strong field experience in projects with local communities in the AFOLU sector
  • Deep understanding of Land-use, Human and Environmental Rights in developing countries
  • Proven experience in leading Environmental and Social Impact Assessments using WB and IFC standards
  • Knowledge of co-benefits management tools and certification (High Conservation Value, FPIC, FSC, RSPO, CCB, etc.) is preferred
  • Understanding of voluntary carbon markets and certification standards is a plus
  • Existing network and reputation in these fields are advantageous
  • Willingness to travel internationally regularly
  • Fluent in English; French, Spanish, Portuguese, or other regional languages are a plus
