We have a fantastic opportunity for a Software Engineer to join our Substance 3D business area based in Clermont Ferrand or Lyons.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Software Engineer with a good knowledge of software development to work on the desktop application Substance 3D Designer.

Rewarded by a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Los Angeles in 2023, Substance 3D Designer is the reference application used to build procedural 3D materials for many industries such as Video Games, VFX, Industrial Design, Fashion, Automotive.

You will be part of a very motivated team, passionate about 3D Arts and providing high-quality software to 3D technical Artists. You will work in very good conditions with respectful people who take care of each other.

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of the application on various topics and will collaborate efficiently with other teams.

What you'll Do

1. Develop and craft new features in collaboration with other developers, UX designers, and product owners
2. Take maintenance and testability into account during implementation. Write unit and functional tests
3. Analyze and understand customer needs
4. Investigate / fix bugs and performance issues
5. Review code and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback during code reviews
6. Respond to code reviews and welcome questions and constructive feedback
7. Take care of the development environment (build time, reliability, automation)
8. Participate in sprint planning

What you need to succeed

• Good computer science fundamentals
• Good design, debugging, and problem-solving skills
• Good background in C++ and modern C++ (C++17)
• Good understanding of object-oriented and functional programming principles
• Comfortable working with large products and codebases
• Ability to work in coordination with different teams
• Ability to communicate efficiently and honestly structured ideas
• Ability to learn new technologies and maintain a high degree of technical involvement
• Willingness to learn in depth the usage of our products
• Experience in domains such as Qt, modern CMake, Python, 3D, OpenUSD, MaterialX is a plus
• Speaking and understanding French and English
