Back-End Web Applications Developer – European Commission, Reims

This position is with Edda International, a growing European group specializing in IT services for large international institutions, operating from Luxembourg and Brussels. The role involves supporting digital solutions in public health, food safety, and internal market domains, working closely with policy units to develop and maintain core applications that support health, food safety, and regulatory initiatives across Europe.

Responsibilities

1. Develop back-end web applications, implementing core business logic.
2. Design and optimize applications for speed and scalability.
3. Create APIs for system integrations.
4. Implement security and data protection measures.
5. Participate in designing scalable software solutions.
6. Write clean, organized, and functional code.
7. Analyze data and troubleshoot issues.
8. Create technical documentation for maintenance and updates.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of back-end development experience with Java (JDK8+) and JEE (7+), including XML and SOAP web services.
• Strong proficiency in Oracle RDBMS.
• At least 5 years of experience with Git or SVN, using Atlassian tools like Jira, Confluence, Bamboo.
• Understanding of web development cycles, programming, and optimization.
• Experience with security and data protection in high-compliance environments.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of working in multicultural environments.

Additional Information

This is a permanent position based in Brussels, Belgium, with options for home-working or remote work with onsite availability within 2 hours, up to 5 days/month.
