In this role, you will optimize the team’s productivity and conversion efficiency. By driving their performance, you will ensure student recruitment efforts are maximized to achieve ambitious growth targets, while also ensuring that every team member develops the necessary skills to deliver high-quality results. You will be expected to cultivate collaborative relationships with senior figures across various institutions and departments, drive new initiatives, and stay continuously updated with new products and market changes. As a driven, enthusiastic, and motivational leader, you should have proven experience in managing a sales team within the education sector and the capability to recruit sales professionals. A commercial and strategic thinker, you thrive in a fast-paced environment and are eager to progress within a forward-thinking, dynamic, and innovative organization.

Design and Strategy

Collaborate in designing the specific commercial strategy for international student recruitment, ensuring its successful communication and implementation.

  • Business Growth: Develop and execute business strategies to deliver growth in accordance with strategic plans.
  • Performance Interventions: Formulate and implement interventions to sustain performance and capitalize on new business opportunities.
  • Commercial Guidance: Guide and direct commercial activities across the brand to maximize the potential of products and services, supporting delivery against KPIs and targets.
  • Management: Oversee both direct and indirect commercial activities through the group and business units.
  • Leadership: Lead by example, representing GUS and its partners in the best light at all times.
  • Target Achievement: Reach and exceed targets set by top management.
  • Senior Collaboration: Attend monthly meetings with other senior members of the business to align strategies and initiatives.
  • Team Management: Manage a team of Business Development Managers, increasing the presence of GUS and its partner brands in targeted regions.
  • New Business Development: Drive new business development, monitor, and evaluate emerging business opportunities.
  • Sales Process Improvement: Identify key areas for improvement in the student recruitment process.
  • Recruitment Oversight: Oversee aspects of recruitment and selection for the student recruitment department.
  • Industry Engagement: Attend industry events and conferences to generate new business leads.
  • Representation: Act as a spokesperson for the organization at student recruitment events and conferences.
  • Networking: Network with other directors to generate new business for the company.
  • Performance Reporting: Report monthly on sales performance against budget and analyze variances.
Minimum Requirements
  • Proven track record in people management.
  • Demonstrated success in improving recruitment performance within the education sector.
  • Relevant industry experience in international student recruitment is required.
  • Previous experience in telephone and face-to-face consultative roles.
  • Successful management of recruitment teams, ideally within a similar industry.
  • Professional training in recruitment or related fields is a strong advantage.
  • Proven track record of achieving targets and driving growth in student recruitment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire recruitment teams.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing long-term relationships with educational partners.
  • Previous experience working in a culturally diverse environment within a global organization.
  • Excellent marketing strategy skills with a proven track record of success in student recruitment.
  • Strong prospecting, networking, persuasion, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including presentations.
  • High level of computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, and the internet.
  • Excellent project management, logistics, and customer relations skills.
  • Highly numerate with strong financial analysis, forecasting, project costing, and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Proven people management skills with a successful track record in team management.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels in a wide range of organizations.
