Sanofi Global MSAT (Manufacturing Sciences, Analytics and Technology) acts as a crucial link between our R&D and Manufacturing facilities, playing a vital role in securing the present portfolio and delivering future launches of high-quality and innovative drugs and vaccines. By driving its own transformation, Global MSAT fulfills an important function by providing day-to-day Manufacturing Support, focusing on technical and process aspects, effective Life Cycle Management, process robustness enhancement, and yield improvement to optimize performance.

Under the lead of MSAT and in partnership with many other functions (Manufacturing 4.0, Digital, M&S, R&D), the MSAT Process Data Science & Digital Transformation team (MSAT DSD team) aims to achieve operational excellence in process development, optimization & sustainability by establishing a data-driven organization. The MSAT DSD organization is the data/digital core within our processes, ensuring best-in-class manufacturing & analytical processes with a focus on data/digital innovations & excellence, to accelerate and secure launches and improve current processes.

Within the MSAT DSD department, the MSAT DSD Recombinant Platform, especially in immunology & oncology, accelerates digital transformation for the MSAT Recombinant Drug Substance Platform and supports product launches through Data Science and Digital innovations.

Reporting to the Head of the MSAT DSD Recombinant Immunology & Oncology Platform, the Data Scientist will provide statistical support to internal customers: MSAT USP (UpStream), MSAT DSP (DownStream), and MSAT Analytics. The role involves collaboration with other MSAT DSD members for harmonization and improvements.

Main responsibilities:
  • Implement statistical methodologies for protocols.
  • Conduct statistical analyses and prepare reports.
  • Write statistical procedures and instructions.
  • Explain statistical results to non-statisticians (popularize statistics).
  • Provide training on data science/statistics to customers.
  • Support questions from health authorities with statistical expertise.
  • Monitor technical implementation of innovative statistical methods.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines for manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain MSAT applications.
  • Participate in data architecture and visualization projects to support decision-making.
  • Support digital transformation through data-driven solutions.
  • Develop and maintain MSAT data pipelines (ETL).
  • Create models for yield improvement.
About you
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Data Science, Data Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics with at least 5 years of industrial statistics experience.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Rigorous, dynamic, and pedagogical.
  • Strong statistical knowledge including:
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC), Continued Process Verification (CPV), control charts, capability indices.
    • Sample size and power studies.
    • Comparability studies.
    • Prediction intervals.
    • Population comparison tests (parametric and non-parametric).
    • Multivariate analyses and machine learning algorithms (e.g., PCA, PLS, Random Forest).
    • Linear and non-linear modeling.
    • Qualification and validation of analytical methods.
    • Design of Experiments (DOE).
    • Bayesian statistics.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages:
    • JMP, SIMCA, Modde, Design Expert, PASS, R, Python
  • Knowledge of SQL and database concepts.
  • Willingness to learn about cloud platforms, especially Snowflake.
  • Good understanding of version control systems, particularly GitHub.
  • Occasional travel to Sanofi sites in Lyon Gerland, Geel, Framingham.
