About LSM

Laudato Si’ Movement (LSM) is an international network of 900 Catholic organizations and thousands of grassroots leaders working together to care for our common home and advance climate and ecological justice. About This Position

The Communications Officer and Director’s Assistant will play a critical role in advancing the mission and vision of the Laudato Si' Movement in Europe. He/She will be responsible for supporting regional members and programs with effective communication strategies while aligning them with the global marketing and communication strategy.

This role also closely collaborates with National Communication Coordinators (Secretariat) and sometimes volunteers (Chapters), supporting them in developing and implementing national communication strategies by sharing tips, ideas, and tools to achieve national goals.

He/she will work closely with the European Program Director but also with national coordinators (Italy, France, Ireland, Poland) and the communication team. He/she will also support the European programs director on administrative tasks and the coordination of the team.

Key Responsibilities

Communication

  • Support Laudato Si’ Animators and Laudato Si’ Circles (layouts, social media posts, video) via ongoing communication.
  • Produce blogposts (2 each month) and social media posts in several languages (EN, FR, IT, SP, PT), valorising European best practices on Laudato Si’.
  • Organise a communication training for the Secretariat and Animators to meet their needs.
  • Develop posters and a postcard campaign on the occasion of Laudato Si's 10th anniversary, visible in Churches during the key moments of the Season of Creation in 5 countries.
  • Enhance LSM’s media impact in Europe (different countries), especially on the Press.
  • Plan the communication strategy in Europe and evaluate results.


Director’s support

  • Support the EU program director in coordinating the European team.
  • Coordinate the collection of information from EU teams.
  • Prepare European meetings, planning, and reports.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.


Essential

Skills and Characteristics

  • A university education in a related subject is helpful, but not necessary if the candidate has 5-10 years of experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role working remotely.
  • Excellent knowledge of campaigning and how grassroots movements can oppose harmful industries.
  • Experience organizing public mobilizations, developing tools for grassroots activists, and facilitating trainings.
  • Understanding of the structure and relations within the Catholic Church institutions and a good knowledge of the papal encyclical “Laudato Si’”.
  • Endorses and embodies LSM values and the Laudato Si’ paradigm in behavior and words; comfortable supporting and working in a faith-based environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills across teams in a remote work environment.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral): writing/developing toolkits
  • Networking and Relationship Builder.
  • Project management in an intercultural/international context.
  • Organizing and leading training.
  • Experience using Zoho or other project management tools, Google Workspace, Zoom, and Slack is helpful.


Languages: Good English needed. Fluency in French, Italian, Spanish, or German is desirable.

Location: Being in Paris would facilitate in-person work, but candidates from any European country are welcome to apply.

Type: Part-time position.

Work environment: This position will work remotely. It will be based at home, and a reliable Internet connection is required. Laudato Si’ Movement is a faith-based organization. Being Catholic is not at all a requirement to work here, but regular shared spiritual practices are part of our team culture.
