Beicip-Franlab is seeking a Geophysicist to join the Geoscience Interpretation team to support the development of its consulting activities.

Geophysical methods, particularly seismic processing and data interpretation, are key processes in today's oil, gas, and energy transition industries (including CCUS and geothermal energy). These processes involve seismic acquisition design, supervision of seismic processing, seismic well tying, and velocity modeling.

Leading or collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will carry out tasks related to gravity, magnetic, seismic, and other non-seismic methods. Candidates must be proficient with processing workflows and standard software packages for GIS and seismic interpretation (such as Decision Space and Petrel).

Knowledge of seismic characterization and basin analysis would be a plus.

You will be based at Beicip-Franlab headquarters in France (Paris area), with opportunities for international travel.

Various career paths within Beicip-Franlab may develop from this position.

Responsibilities

As a Consultant reporting to the Geoscience Interpretation Team Leader, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Perform multiphysics interpretation;
  • Carry out key seismic interpretation tasks such as seismic-to-well calibration, horizon and fault interpretation, 2D & 3D velocity modeling, depth conversion, and mapping;
  • Work actively within an integrated project team;
  • Participate in presentations and discussions with clients, from data collection to results delivery;
  • Utilize leading-edge technologies and tools to apply innovative methods and solutions, fostering creativity and skill development;
  • Develop integration between geophysical and geological techniques to produce high-quality results that meet client expectations and contribute to project success.

This role is ideal for an active, innovative, and ambitious geophysicist eager to contribute to successful development projects.

Candidate profile

  • An MSc or PhD in Geophysics;
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in seismic interpretation within the Oil & Gas and/or Energy Transition industries (mandatory);
  • Proficiency with standard seismic interpretation software packages;
  • Additional proficiency in seismic characterization is a plus;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Willingness to travel abroad for missions;
