Domaine de Boisbuchet offers position as # general manager

An international center for workshops, research, and artistic residencies in the crossing fields of design, architecture, nature, and society for over 35 years, Domaine de Boisbuchet recruits a passionate leader in charge of economic and administrative management and development.

Established by the co-founder and longtime director of the Vitra Design Museum in Germany, Boisbuchet's main business area is workshops that annually attract participants from around the world. In addition, we frequently realise workshops for companies and universities, residencies for individual creatives, exhibitions for our own audience as well as for other institutions, and various public events. Located in the rural triangle between the cities of Limoges, Poitiers and Angoulême, Boisbuchet's 150 hectares comprise historic buildings in an old landscape park to which we constantly add new, innovative buildings. We have a collection and specialist library recognised by international experts and dispose of a well established global network of partnering designers, architects, artists, universities, schools, and museums.

Based on the legacy of this place, its activities, and connections, we are seeking a financially stable development which shall be at the heart of the future management’s responsibilities.

The position involves :

• sourcing and management of financing
• development and supervision of marketing
• organisation and supervision of administration
• organisation and supervision of human resources
• contribution to the development of new business opportunities

We are looking for :

• solid experiences in economic management and business cooperation
• an excellent mastering of French and English languages
• knowledge of the institutional environment and the innovation sector
• experience in mobilising public and private funding
• social competence, persuasiveness, and the capacity to negotiate
• personal independence
• a lively interest in design and architecture

Timeframe :

• a longterm engagement of 3 years minimum
• 6 months probation time
• as of now

The reward and terms as well as the hours and place of work are to be negotiated but will be commensurate with the responsibilities of the post.

Accommodation is available at the Domaine. Boisbuchet is only a few minutes from the market town of Confolens, one of the two sub-prefectures of the Charente department, and an hour from the cities of Limoges, Angoulême, and Poitiers.
