Description du poste

Mackenzie Stuart is partnered with a leading innovator in microdisplay technology seeking a Principal Display Architect , who will play a pivotal role in defining and delivering the next generation of MicroLED-based microdisplay technologies. Operating from the CTO Office, you will work at the intersection of advanced R&D, product architecture, and strategic planning—helping to shape the core technology roadmap during a critical scale-up phase. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role, ideal for a deep technologist with a system-level vision and start-up agility.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Display System Architecture : Lead the end-to-end design and system-level integration of advanced MicroLED microdisplays, including emitter arrays, backplanes, optics, and system interfaces.
  • Technology Roadmapping : Define and evolve technical roadmaps aligned with company vision, market needs (e.g., AR / VR, wearables), and manufacturing scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership : Collaborate closely with device, optics, electronics, software, and product teams to ensure cohesive system development.
  • Innovation & IP Generation : Drive innovation across the display stack and contribute to key IP assets, patents, and trade secrets.
  • Partnerships & Ecosystem : Interface with external partners (e.g., foundries, glass suppliers, tool vendors) and academic collaborators to support co-development.
  • CTO Advisory : Serve as a technical advisor to the CTO on architectural tradeoffs, risks, and emergent opportunities in display technology.

Qualifications :

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in display architecture, with deep domain expertise in MicroLED, OLED, LCOS, or other microdisplay technologies.
  • Proven track record of leading complex system-level R&D programs from concept to prototype or product.
  • Strong grasp of optics, semiconductor device physics, backplane electronics, and display metrology.
  • Experience in startup or fast-paced innovation environments; comfortable with ambiguity and hands-on problem solving.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and leadership skills.

Preferred :

  • Exposure to AR / VR device development and ergonomic constraints.
  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing constraints (e.g., yield, process control).
  • Experience with custom ASIC or driver integration for display systems.
  • Patent filings or publications in display technologies.

Location :

  • Candidate must be based in, or willing to relocate to, Grenoble, France.
