We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Structural Engineer to join our team in the nuclear industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of structural components within nuclear facilities. This role is crucial in ensuring the safety, durability, and regulatory compliance of nuclear infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Structural Design and Analysis
- Design and analyze structural systems for nuclear facilities, including buildings, support structures, and containment systems.
- Ensure designs meet all relevant safety, seismic, and regulatory requirements.
- Construction Oversight
- Oversee the construction of structural components to ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance during construction phases.
- Maintenance and Integrity Assessment
- Develop and implement maintenance programs for structural systems.
- Conduct regular assessments of structural integrity and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all structural designs and construction practices comply with national and international nuclear safety regulations and standards.
- Prepare and submit necessary documentation and reports to regulatory bodies.
- Project Management
- Manage structural engineering projects from planning through completion.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation
- Perform risk assessments related to structural systems and develop mitigation strategies.
- Implement safety measures to protect against structural failures or hazards.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of design calculations, construction activities, and maintenance procedures.
- Generate detailed reports on structural performance and project progress.
- Innovation and Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving structural designs and construction practices.
- Implement innovative solutions and best practices to enhance structural safety and efficiency.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate with regulatory bodies, clients, and internal stakeholders regarding structural engineering activities.
- Provide technical support and advice to other engineering teams and departments.
- Training and Development
- Provide training and mentoring to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Stay current with advancements in structural engineering and nuclear industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng)) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil or structural engineering, preferably within the nuclear industry or a related high-tech sector.
