Job Title: Interim CEO (Commercial Lead) – EU Market

Type: Interim, Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Interim CEO to lead the foundational build-out of a high-potential diagnostics business in Europe. This is a critical leadership opportunity with a top-tier international company, suited for a commercially driven executive with deep expertise in IVD, medical diagnostics, or MedTech.

In this early-stage initiative, the Interim CEO will act as both the strategic and operational driver — responsible for building the European presence from the ground up. The initial focus will be on obtaining regulatory approvals, securing reimbursement pathways, and developing a go-to-market strategy. The role offers the unique opportunity to shape the trajectory from zero to scale across key European markets.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Regulatory & Market Access Strategy
  • Lead the regulatory roadmap, including engagement with local partners to secure CE marking and other necessary approvals.
  • Develop and execute the reimbursement strategy, including health economic modeling and payor engagement.
  • Ensure early and sustainable market access planning aligned with country-specific requirements.
  1. Organizational Build-Out
  • Design and implement the initial organizational structure for the EU region.
  • Recruit and lead a cross-functional team — initially lean, combining internal resources with outsourced partners.
  • Oversee the establishment of essential operational infrastructure: legal entities, compliance frameworks, systems, and commercial partnerships across the region.
  1. Strategic Market Planning
  • Identify and prioritize target launch countries based on opportunity, need, and market fit.
  • Build trusted relationships with KOLs, diagnostic labs, national health authorities, and patient advocacy groups.
  • Drive early commercial readiness, including pricing strategy, early adopter engagement, and distribution/channel planning.

Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in IVD, medical diagnostics, or MedTech, ideally in start-up or market entry environments.
  • Proven success in leading regulatory and reimbursement strategies across European markets.
  • Deep understanding of the diagnostic landscape and healthcare payor systems in Europe.
  • Experience launching complex diagnostics, such as allergy, immunology, or molecular tests.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in “build-from-scratch” environments, navigating ambiguity and scaling operations.
  • Advanced degree in life sciences, healthcare, business, or related fields is preferred.
