Description du poste

Access Services is hiring a full-time Direct Support Professional to assist adults with developmental disabilities who participate in the ALTEC Life Enrichment day program. The Life Enrichment DSP will help ensure the highest quality of care is given to individuals in helping them meet their needs. The core goals of our Life Enrichment program are to teach skills to promote greater independence and foster positive community relationships.

Skills required of a Life Enrichment DSP:

  • Professional and personal full-time
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to navigate software, including typing and using dropdowns
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to verbalize with staff, supervisors, and clients' families
  • Ability to complete daily electronic documentation
  • Patience
  • Willingness to learn
  • Training on behavioral techniques preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting

Responsibilities of a Life Enrichment DSP:

  • In the facility:
    • Run activities in one of our four program areas (Physical wellness, Teaching for independence, Communication and socialization, sensory enrichment)
    • Provide assistance as needed for meals and personal care
    • Daily documentation of client activity and goal progress
  • In the community: Activities include recreational, physical wellness, and volunteerism
    • Take out small groups of up to 3 individuals for a variety of activities, while trying to match the activities to the staff’s interests when possible
    • Ensure the client's safety while in the community while encouraging independence by teaching functional skills

Candidates must meet all qualifying and ongoing job criteria including background checks, physical examination results, and clearances.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle during work hours.
  • A U.S. driver’s license for at least two years (not including time with a permit).
  • Must be listed as a driver on a valid auto insurance policy.
  • Ability to drive both your personal vehicle and a company-provided vehicle during work hours.

Compensation and schedule:

  • Starting at $17+/hour based on experience and education.
  • The program is open between the hours of 8:15 AM - 3:45 PM Monday-Friday.

Essential Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Work in program sites and the community routinely providing direct care and support with client(s). Stand, sit or run by self, or to provide proper care and supervision with a client. Able to move and stay with a client to keep him/her safe, both in home environment and community, even when client may be difficult or uncooperative, both at near and far distances. Able to assist a client who has fallen, regardless of weight or size. Walk, climb stairs by self, or to provide direct care ensuring client’s safety, or to complete household and community tasks. Perform household tasks or tasks within the community such as laundry, cleaning, completing meal routines, shopping or dining out and, at the same time, ensuring client’s safety and proper direct care and compliance with ISP.
