We are seeking a highly skilled, entrepreneurial-minded CHO cell line development expert. You will be responsible for the execution of feasibility studies for industry partners, testing different genetic integration strategies in CHO cells, and optimizing growth conditions. The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker who is not afraid to think outside the box, with a strong industrial grounding, and excellent leadership and communication skills.
Roles and responsibilities :
- Be the driving force behind the development of stable mammalian cell lines expressing key therapeutic proteins of interest (both transiently and stably)
- Lead the optimization and development of CHO cell medium for engineered cell lines, coordinating with third parties where required
- Adapt CHO cells to serum-free and suspension growth
- Explore and optimize gene expression in both CHO and HEK cells (testing different promoters, UTRs, etc)
- Optimize and scale up growth of different CHO cell lines
- Quality reporting of cell banks
- Contribute to the setup and development of in-house analytical studies
- Take on managerial responsibilities as the team grows, contributing to growth and recruitment of a fast-growing R&D team
Skills and requirements :
- Minimum 3 years relevant industry experience working with cell line development
- PhD in cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, biological engineering, or other life science discipline (exceptional Masters students with extensive industry experience will be considered)
- Experience in suspension CHO / HEK cell line development; vector design / cloning; stable and transient transfections; single cell cloning; clone selection (ELISA / Octet); research cell banking (RCB) generation; stability assessment studies; genetic characterization methods (qPCR, whole genome sequencing)
- Experience leading projects or project sub-teams and/or managing contract research relationships
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Team player capable of delivering projects timely while working independently when needed
- A proactive, innovative thinker with an entrepreneurial, problem-solving mindset
- Fluency in English
- Knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements
- Experience working with glycoproteins and/or the protein secretory pathway
- Mass spectrometry experience
- Experience working with plant and yeast recombinant expression systems
- Proficiency in French language
