A DAY IN THE LIFE:

At Tandem Diabetes Care, we’re transforming the future of insulin pump therapy — and we’re growing fast. The Clinical Diabetes Sales Specialist is directly responsible for the promotion and sale of Tandem Diabetes products and clinical services within the assigned territory.

This professional is expected to plan and ensure achievement of sales goals through clinical acceptance of Tandem products’ insulin pump therapy. The Clinical Diabetes Sales Specialist will be responsible for identifying potential customers, establishing and developing business relationships to facilitate Tandem Diabetes' products and clinical services.

This isn’t just about hitting sales targets. It’s about being a trusted clinical partner to healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers — especially those navigating the complexities of Type 1 diabetes. Using clinical expertise, the Clinical Diabetes Sales Specialist provides account sales support and continuing education in direct contact to patients, physicians and their staff on the technical use of insulin pump therapy and special considerations related to pump therapy in the marketplace to generate sales.

In addition, the roles involves promoting Tandem Diabetes products and services by providing additional education on topics such as diabetes self-management skills, emergency management and community resources as determined by client needs.

You’ll work closely with endocrinologists, diabetes educators, and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to increase product adoption, improve outcomes, and build long-term advocacy for Tandem solutions.

Working as Clinical Diabetes Sales Specialist , you'll...

  • Cover assigned territory to ensure the territory meets or exceed company sales goals as established by Sales Management.
  • Develop and execute successful strategies to address clinical concerns in the sales territory to ensure the sale of Tandem Diabetes products/services and to ensure the retention of existing relationships.
  • Be a clinical and educational leader in your territory, especially focused on Type 1 diabetes management and insulin pump therapy.
  • Identify new business opportunities, build strong HCP relationships, and establish Tandem as a go-to resource in the diabetes community.
  • Efficiently use available tools and resources to identify sales leads and gather the information required to determine if prospective criteria have been satisfied.
  • Create value for providers by differentiating Tandem’s technology and services, especially in comparison to legacy pump systems.
  • Effectively promote Tandem’s unique market position, approach and value to the prospect (e.g., ability to integrate/coordinate with providers, impact on claims or other outcomes, clinical and technical differentiation from competitors).
  • Schedule, deliver and coordinate product training in the assigned territory for patients, customers, and health care professionals (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, Endocrinologists) to familiarize patients, customers, and health care professionals with the benefits of Tandem Diabetes’ products and related services.
  • Complete all product training, documentation and communication with HCPs in a thorough and timely manner per company policy.
  • Establish and maintain excellent professional relationships with health care professionals to support the sale of Tandem Diabetes products / services.
  • Responsible for initial and ongoing recertification of contracted and non-contracted Tandem Pump Trainers in the territory.
  • Conduct educational classes for patients through direct patient care that support diabetes education in relation to insulin pump therapy and other advanced diabetes management skills to gain prospective and retain existing customers.
  • Interact with Clinical Manager for guidance on technical and training issues.
  • Promote sharing relevant clinical information and trends with regional sales team.
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal team-members to identify and address post-sale product issues, and additional patient education training needs.
  • Provide products/services information directly to the consumer/end user via health fairs, conventions or in conjunction with promotions.
  • Attend and participate in all corporate sales training, sales meetings, and assigned conventions, trade shows and symposia.
  • Keep records updated in the customer relationship management software (CRM), for all business dealings within assigned territory.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Medical Affairs, and Customer Support teams to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Uphold company compliance with all regulatory, privacy, and legal requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Experience in clinical sales.
  • Excellent communicator, able to earn trust with both HCPs and patients.
  • Must have experience and knowledge in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes management/self-management, including: insulin pumps, hybrid closed loop systems, AID systems, CGMs, infusion sets, carbohydrate counting, and emergency protocols.
  • Proven ability to work independently and drive strategically results in a fast-paced, evolving market.
  • Comfortable presenting to and influencing clinical stakeholders and KOLs.
  • Familiarity with sales cycle, CRM tools, and digital collaboration platforms (Microsoft Office, Teams, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills with a passion for going above and beyond to support patients and providers.
  • The ability to travel up to 80% within the territory must maintain a valid driver's license and insurance as per company policy.
  • Able to travel to the U.S. or Switzerland for training and internal meetings as required.
  • Fluent in French and ideally a good working knowledge of the English language

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • Experience in Homecare and working with prescribers.
  • Ideally will have a Nursing background or Dietitian or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.
  • Maintenance of registration and licensure through clinical education.
  • Continuing education on patient education on the technical use of diabetes technology and special considerations related to pump therapy in the marketplace.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in diabetes care, endocrinology, medical device sales, or a related clinical field.
  • Previous experience engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and supporting complex HCP relationships is highly preferred.
  • Direct knowledge of or experience with Type 1 diabetes patients is a strong advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate as a clinical expert to patients and HCPs.
