The Role

The Secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration is recruiting a Counsel to lead its case management team, primarily handling cases connected to Germany, Austria, and other European countries. This position is based at the ICC Headquarters in Paris.

Responsibilities
  1. Manage a team responsible for a significant volume of arbitration cases.
  2. Provide neutral procedural advice to arbitrators and parties involved in arbitration cases.
  3. Correspond with parties and arbitrators regarding case administration.
  4. Review draft arbitral awards and present them to the Court for approval.
  5. Prepare and review memoranda for Court decisions.
  6. Participate in Court sessions and review case documents.
  7. Contribute articles for publication and represent the Secretariat at seminars and conferences.
  8. Perform special tasks as assigned by senior management.
Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 6 years of relevant experience in international arbitration.
  • Legal qualification (e.g., Bar exam or equivalent) is preferred but not mandatory if experience is sufficient.
  • Bar qualification in Germany or Austria is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and team-working skills.
  • Management experience is advantageous.
  • Fluent in English and German, both written and verbal.
