What You'll Do

  • Lead and manage all phases of dam removal and stream restoration projects, from initial assessment and planning through permitting, design, construction, and post-removal monitoring.

  • Apply advanced knowledge of stream and restoration techniques to design and implement projects which restore natural hydrology, improve water quality, and enhance habitat connectivity.

  • Ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight on sediment transport, geomorphic assessments, and ecological monitoring related to dam removal and stream restoration.

  • Oversee the work of others and manage small and complex projects of various types.

  • Prepare project proposals and budgets, lead business development initiatives, serve as a technical resource to junior staff, and review technical deliverables, invoices, and field reports prepared by junior staff.

  • Supervise junior staff directly and maintain a sufficient workload for all junior staff under supervision.

  • Independently solve day-to-day problems on projects with limited direction, maintain client interaction, and participate in business development and client marketing events.

  • Physical Demands - Work may include climbing: ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc. Close visual acuity is required. Activities occur inside and outside, and you may be required to wear a respirator and other personal protective equipment.

What We're Looking For

  • BS in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or related field required.

  • 10+ years of related experience in dam removal and stream restoration project experience, including progressive responsibility and proven track record of project and people management skills.

  • In-depth understanding of environmental regulations and permitting processes related to dam removal and stream restoration.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) license preferred.
