A leading company in the LNG and gas sector is seeking an Experienced Safety Design Engineer to join their team in the Greater Paris Metropolitan Region. The role involves conducting safety studies, leading projects, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards. The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Engineering and extensive experience in Oil & Gas Engineering. Proficiency in English and French is required, with knowledge of Phast software being a significant advantage. This position offers opportunities for short-term business trips in France and abroad.

Discipline : Safety Design

Experience : 10 years and above

Sofregaz hires an Experienced Safety Design Engineer, in order to strengthen its teams and take part in international projects for the design of LNG and gas facilities, ranging for feasibility studies to FEED and detailed design. After a period of integration, he / she will hold the function of Safety Design referent within the Engineering Department.

The engineer shall perform the following tasks :

• Firefighting studies (pumps sizing, hydraulic calculations),
• Hazardous area / ATEX classification studies,
• Cryogenic spillage protection studies,
• Review of layouts and general layout philosophy,
• Attendance to HSE reviews (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL) and guidance of these reviews,
• Preparation of general specifications and particular specifications for the firefighting and safety equipment, technical tabulations and vendor follow up.

In the position of Safety Design referent, the engineer shall also perform the following tasks :

• Technical supervision of projects for the Safety Design discipline, liaising with the Head of Engineering,
• Intervention as Discipline Leader on selected projects,
• Support to commercial teams in the preparation of the proposals,
• Technical support to the personnel of the Safety Design discipline,
• Development of tools and methodology for the discipline,
• Capitalization of know-how and feedbacks from projects.

He / she will also take on selected projects as Discipline Leader, and in this position he shall perform the following tasks :

• Team work with the other project disciplines, under the responsibilities of the Project Manager,
• Definition of major technical choices for the discipline on the project,
• Application of project design philosophies and company procedures in the design,
• Attendance to 3D model reviews to validate the conformity of the 3D model with the technical requirements of the discipline,
• Preparation of scope of works for engineering subcontracts,
• Supervision of engineering subcontracts,
• Responsibility quality / planning / budget for the activities performed by the discipline on the project.

Desired profile :

• Master’s Degree in Engineering with a major in Industrial Risk, Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering,
• Experience in Oil & Gas Engineering is a must,
• Knowledge of the LNG and gas area is a plus,
• A previous experience on the site in construction and / or operation is a plus,
• Knowledge of the software Phast is strongly requested,
• Autonomous, dynamic and reactive,
• Knowledge of English and French is required. A third language (Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese in particular) can be a plus.
• You are mobile in France and abroad for short terms business trips.

Nota : profiles with experience exclusively in the HSE supervision of sites in construction or in operation, or in the management of a QHSE system, do not correspond to the need.
