Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help expand and scale our configuration platform within Datadog. As part of the Runtime Configuration team, you will design and drive internal systems that enable our engineers to safely release and reliably operate code within our global cloud infrastructure multiple times a day.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role involving interaction with engineers across Datadog to provide safe and reliable release tooling. As Datadog continues to expand its global infrastructure, this team offers opportunities to solve various business problems and avenues for career advancement.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement components within our runtime configuration platform, including high-performance client libraries, robust APIs, and global distribution mechanisms.
• Assist engineering teams in integrating their services with our configuration platforms.
• Develop safe distribution mechanisms across our global Kubernetes infrastructure.
• Mentor junior team members and interns.

Who You Are:

• An independent, methodical, and rapid experimenter who is not afraid of failure.
• Good communicator with experience gathering requirements from stakeholders.
• Eager to learn new languages and technologies, with a deep interest in runtimes and ecosystems.
• Experienced in delivering software solutions and libraries in Java or Python.
• Familiar with data structures, algorithms, profiling, and optimization.
• Bonus: Familiarity with gRPC and experience with configuration management and/or feature flag systems.
