Job summary

IQVIA is seeking a Head of Patient and Instrument Science and Thought Leadership to lead strategic, scientific, and regulatory development of Clinical Outcomes Assessments (COAs) and composite measures. COAs include PROs, ObsROs and ClinROs, used in trials, real-world studies, and clinical practice to ensure patient perspectives guide development and endpoints.

This role requires leading regulatory interactions (FDA/EMA), mentoring scientists, and collaborating across functions to expand COA

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Psychology, Behavioral measurement, Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Pharmacy, Public Health, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of professional experience in COA/outcomes research with publications.
• Deep understanding of COA methodology, psychometrics and regulatory guidelines.
• Excellent scientific writing and ability to communicate with regulators and leadership.
• Proven influencing skills and ability to engage senior leaders across geographies.
• Leadership experience with high-performing teams and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Define instrument development strategies across therapeutic areas aligned with company priorities and regulatory guidance.
• Scientific Excellence: Lead validation and implementation of COA instruments including qualitative research and endpoint definition.
• Regulatory Engagement: Lead interactions with FDA/EMA on COAs and regulatory submissions.
• Methodological Expertise: Direct the use of advanced methodologies including digital COA strategies and PED analytics.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with multiple functions to expand COA utility and meaningful health changes.
• Team Leadership: Mentor scientists, build talent, and manage COA assets and SME relationships.
• External Representation: Present as a field expert at conferences and industry consortia.
