Schiller International University in Paris seeks a Director of International Relations and Diplomacy Programs to provide academic leadership for undergraduate, graduate and online IRD programs across campuses. You will ensure curriculum quality, faculty hiring and performance, and student outcomes in IRD while leading Paris Campus academic operations.

Qualifications

  • Earned Doctorate in International Relations and Diplomacy or closely related field.
  • Evidence of excellence in higher education administration.
  • Experience designing academic programs and managing faculty.
  • Commitment to student success and engagement.
  • Experience with distance learning and online instruction.
  • Knowledge of US or French higher education systems is a plus.
  • Native English or high English proficiency; additional languages desirable.
  • Local language skills (French, German, Spanish) desirable.

Your mission

The Director of International Relations and Diplomacy (IRD) Programs, based at the Paris Campus, will provide academic leadership for Schiller International University’s undergraduate, graduate and online International Relations and Diplomacy programs across all campuses. The Director will be responsible for ensuring program currency and curriculum quality, faculty hiring and performance, and achieving student outcomes within the International Relations and Diplomacy discipline. In addition, the Director will provide Academic Leadership at the Paris Campus for all academic programs.

The role encompasses the oversight of program design, curriculum development, course content, syllabi, course delivery, assessment and continuous improvement processes, ensuring compliance with U.S. accreditation standards, local regulatory requirements, and dual-degree and articulation agreements with various partners. The Director will work closely with academic leaders across campuses to recruit, evaluate, and support faculty teaching International Relations and Diplomacy courses, ensuring consistency in academic standards and learning outcomes throughout the institution. The director will also work with academic team, student experience and data team to monitor key performance indicators and help design interventions to ensure achieving student outcomes set by the university.

In collaboration with Associate Deans, Directors of other academic areas, and the Paris Campus Director, the Director of International Relations and Diplomacy Programs will provide academic leadership for the Paris Campus and oversee faculty hiring and management, course allocations and academic operation.

The successful candidate will work closely with faculty, staff, and other university stakeholders to foster student engagement, academic success, preparation for employment and career success, and deliver a transformative, student-centered educational experience aligned with Schiller’s experiential and challenge-based learning model.

Tasks and Responsabilities
  • Lead International Relations and Diplomacy programs design, review, and continuous improvement in collaboration with Academic team and other university offices.
  • Participate in the review and assessment of program and course learning outcomes for International Relations and Diplomacy and other academic areas.
  • Engage actively in innovation within the area(s) of knowledge to update teaching and learning methodologies and educational technology in collaboration with the Educational Technology team and industry professionals.
  • Assess instructional needs and lead the effort to identify, hire and assign qualified faculty to all International Relations and Diplomacy courses across campuses in collaboration academic leaders on other campuses in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders on other campuses to identify, hire and assign qualified faculty to all courses on the Paris campus in a timely manner.
  • Lead annual evaluations of faculty in IRD across campuses and contribute to faculty annual performance evaluations at the Paris campus.
  • Conduct course observations as needed, both online and onsite.
  • Collaborate with the Educational Technology team to offer faculty development activities.
  • Support the growing Distance Learning Master’s program in International Relations and Diplomacy.
  • Collaborate with Dean of Institutional Effectiveness to ensure program quality and compliance with all regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Monitor student outcomes data weekly and to identify students at risk. Work with faculty and student services to design interventions to support their retention and success.
  • Collaborate with Employability team and devise and implement measures and initiatives to boost students’ employability and career success.
  • Coordinate the effective implementation of VLE templates and uniform content within International Relations and Diplomacy offerings.
  • Manage faculty workload and faculty assignment in collaboration with the other academic leaders.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Provost, President or Campus Director.
Your Profile
  • An earned Doctorate degree in International Relations and Diplomacy or related field from an accredited institution or close to completion.
  • Proven experience and demonstrated excellence in higher education, administration, and industry experience.
  • Academic program design and review and managing faculty and staff.
  • Passion and commitment to student support and success.
  • Knowledge and experience in distant leaning and online instruction.
  • Knowledge of the American and/or French higher education systems is a plus.
  • Either native English speaker or proficiency level of English competency
  • Local language (French, German, Spanish), desirable
