A leading company in transportation systems is seeking an engineering apprentice for a 12- to 36-month contract starting in September 2025. You will support the design and implementation of Toulouse’s automated metro project, handling tasks related to document preparation, site coordination, and quality assurance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in civil engineering.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in French, B2 level in English.

Toulouse's 3rd metro line is part of the major "Toulouse Aerospace Express" project, linking the towns of Colomiers and Labège by an automatic metro. Alstom is responsible for the design and construction of all the systems (track, third rail, linear equipment, power, signalling, automated systems, rolling stock, maintenance equipment, etc.).

We're looking for curious people with an innovative spirit who are keen to reinvent mobility by making it smarter and more sustainable.

At our project centre in Toulouse, the team you'll be joining is composed of around ten people, and is in charge of studies and work on the project's track, third power rail and linear equipment (evacuation walkways and cable trays). Take part in a major project as part of a sustainable urban development approach that will provide an efficient, low-carbon transportation system.

  • The tasks entrusted to you:

After an integration and internal training phase, and while being integrated into the Track team, you will contribute to:

  • Drafting technical documents: component specifications, supplier bid analyses, etc.
  • Ensuring that all design documents are available before work starts on a section
  • Identify any non-conformity identified by the teams on site and draw up the appropriate corrective action plan
  • Process the modification requests submitted by the works teams
  • Establish financial estimationsfor the various modifications
  • Coordinate the design office on design modifications during execution, in liaison with the Alstom experts supporting the operational teams
  • Communicate with suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Ensuring that the technical documents applicable to the sub-system are kept up to date (drawings, product sheets, procedures)
  • Participate to the contol pointsof track, third rail and linear equipment
  • Participating in site visits and preparing the corresponding reports
  • Participating in organising and carrying out the various inspections, in conjunction with the MOE-I, the clientand its counsil
  • Participate in relations with the Environment, Health and Safety unit
  • Participate in drawing up progress reports and creating and updating various indicators
  • Follow a quality assurance process - Extent of application of quality assurance to the various site tasks
  • Carry out internal testing of the subsystem


These tasks will evolve throughout your contract with us. Regular monitoring will also be set up with your apprenticeship supervisor, to enable you to increase your responsibilities.

  • The profile we are looking for:
  • You have 2 years' higher education and are a student at an engineering school specialising in civil engineering, public works or transport systems. You are looking for a 12- to 36-month apprenticeship contract starting in September 2025.
  • During your training you will be introduced to 2D CAD and/or BIM tools
  • You enjoy working in a team and are dynamic and rigorous
  • You have a perfect command of French, and a level of [B2] in English is required;
  • You have an interest in both design and construction.
