Job Description

Internship: Design Innovation Engineer at the Thales Innovation Hub (R&T&I)

Overview

As an intern, you will

  • Support innovation projects in the domains of Aerospace, Space, Defence, Transportation & Security, working on Smart City initiatives such as Smart sensors & Video Analytics, Unmanned Underwater Vehicles, new Space solutions and In-flight Entertainment and Connectivity projects.
  • Apply Design Thinking (User-Centered Innovation) methodology to innovate with customers/users on complex systems design and development.
  • Be an integral part of the Marketing and Innovation team at Thales and work with Thales customers.
  • Meet, learn from and interact with many domain experts who come from different backgrounds and expertise.
  • Opportunities to engage with Thales customers and partners.
  • Experience real working environment in multi-cultural teams, working with colleagues mainly in Europe and Australia.
  • Research and analyze market data and technology trends.
  • Understand how the corporate and technical departments of a company complement and support one another.

Specifically, you will be involved in the following activities

  • Assist to prepare for Design Thinking workshops in various engineering domains under guidance of Thales domain experts.
  • Prepare Inspiration Boards or Concept mapping based on research.
  • Prepare physical mock-ups (prototypes) to be used during sessions to engage users.
  • Build digital prototypes across multiple domains.
  • Apply design thinking techniques to co-design with customers/users.
  • Participate in Design Innovation workshops with customers/users.
  • Create/produce videos and infographics to help the target audience understand Thales’ products/solutions.
  • Build 3D models of innovative products, when needed.
  • Prepare reports for innovation workshops, and produce synthesis posters.
  • Provide technical support in the Innovation Hub.
  • Opportunity to propose and start new initiatives to grow our business or products/solutions, to improve the Innovation Hub.
  • Provide support in product design: 3D modeling and 3D printing.
  • Assist to organize and prepare for product/technology showcases to customers.
  • Attend industry events (e.g., conferences, product/technology seminars) and gather market intelligence in Singapore.
  • Gather business intelligence and data to gain understanding of customer and market needs.
  • Research on Thales’ competitors and present to the team.

The following skills are useful, but not mandatory:

  • 3D Prototyping, 3D Printing, Laser cutting.
  • Adobe suite, Solidworks, AutoCAD.
Commitment
  • Able to commit on a full-time basis for ideally 6 months (or a minimum of 5 months) from Dec 2025 or Jan 2026.
