Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number: 20254439S Position Title: Deputy Athletics Director/External Operations/Chief Athletics Revenue Officer Position Type: Staff Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/12-months Avg Hours Week Department: 727-Athl - Administration Position Summary: The Deputy AD – External Operations/Chief Revenue Officer ( CRO ) leads strategy and operations for all external and commercial functions within the athletics department including ticket sales and operations, marketing, corporate partnerships, licensing, merchandising, food & beverage operations, communications, creative services, video production, and broadcasting. This role drives fan engagement, brand visibility, and revenue growth through ticketing, strategic partnerships, corporate sponsorships, licensing, merchandising, NIL initiatives, and promotional campaigns. This position also manages and oversees 3rd party relationships and partnerships including multi-media rights (Playfly), marketing and ticket sales (Legends), NIL (Friends of Nova and Altius), and food and beverage (Oakview Group). This position plays a key role in contributing to the department’s short and long-term strategic and financial goals and in determining and implementing communications and external strategies.
All duties must be performed in compliance with University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Revenue Generation:
- Lead the athletic department’s revenue generation efforts through all channels, including multi-media rights, partnerships, ticket sales, food & beverage, licensing, merchandising, etc.
- Develop strategies to grow and enhance existing revenue streams
- Develop and implement strategies to maximize the value of athletic department assets and create new revenue streams including but not limited to exploration around: sponsorships/new assets and categories, facility naming rights, new premium seating inventory, outside events, and facility rentals
- NIL : Coordinate with University partners (Playfly, Friends of Nova, Altius) to maximize the value of the student-athlete NIL rights contracted and retained by Villanova
- Oversee the department’s ticket sales strategies for season, group and single game sales across all ticketed sports
- Effectively incorporate data analytics to enhance sales, fan engagement, customer service, and revenue generation
- Implement strategies to grow attendance and revenue across all ticketed sports
- Develop loyalty and rewards programs to enhance student and non-student attendance
- Lead/Oversee marketing and promotional plans for all ticketed sports, with an emphasis on student engagement and support
- Oversee all aspects of the game-day experience and work with staff to develop new and exciting elements to the fan experience
- Collaborate closely with University Advancement and Athletics Development to align and maximize athletics revenue generating and fundraising initiatives
- Establish, measure and report on annual and long-term goals in support of the department’s strategic initiatives and revenue priorities
- Determine and monitor key performance metrics and benchmarks to assess performance and measure success
- Ensure fully-integrated, streamlined, detail-oriented approach to all revenue generation and external initiatives, including fundraising to ensure professional, entrepreneurial, operating environment focused on revenue maximization, fan experience, customer service, and the student-athlete
Communications, Marketing, Branding, and Video Broadcasts:
- Oversee the department’s communications strategy to maximize visibility for Villanova Athletics and its sports programs, including digital and social media, video, email and direct mail, press releases, etc.
- Oversee all marketing and promotional initiatives and campaigns to inform and attract target audiences and provide the best game day/fan experience
- Oversee in-venue presentations for all games and special events
- Steward the Villanova Athletics brand by maintaining brand standards for all design, video, social, physical and other brand applications
- Serve as the department’s final approval of all licensing and usage of intellectual property
- Oversee digital and linear broadcasts and all video-related content
Point of Contact/Liaison Duties- Reports to VP/Director of Athletics
- Collaborates closely with Asst. VP for Athletics Development to ensure external operations are closely aligned and streamlined with fundraising and development efforts
- Liaison with Assoc. VP University Communication and Marketing to ensure university brand and communication alignment.
- Collaborates closely with Deputy AD/ COO to develop short and long-term revenue plans, reporting tools, and ensure we are fully leveraging available athletic department assets
- Main POC for 3rd party relationships with multimedia rights (Playfly), ticket sales and marketing (Legends), Food & Beverage (Oakview Group), and ecommerce (Fanatics)
- Leads athletic department NIL strategy in coordination with University partner
- Liaison to NIKE for marketing/branding initiatives
- Represents Villanova Athletics on internal and external committees and campus and community events
- Conducts all duties in accordance with applicable laws, policies and procedures, including Villanova University, Villanova Athletics, NCAA and the BIG EAST Conference.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education:- Bachelor’s Degree required/Master’s Degree Preferred
Specific Job Knowledge:- Experience in college athletics finance oversight and athletic administration. Overall staff management. Thorough knowledge of principles and practices related to budget development and financial analysis, as well as familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles for not-for-profit higher education organizations. Experience in college athletics external operations to include marketing, promotions, ticketing, communications, etc.
Minimum Work Experience:- Seven years of experience in NCAA Division 1 Athletic Administration, professional/corporate setting or combination of both
- Five years of leadership experience in direct revenue generation, sales or other commercial activity
Work Skills:- Knowledge of NCAA rules
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
- Oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work collaboratively with others
- Dynamic leader and collaborator with exceptional communication skills and a strong work ethic, committed to enhancing the visibility, reputation and revenue of the Villanova Athletics Department.
Equipment Knowledge:- Proficiency with personal computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, database, financial systems)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree.
- NCAA student-athlete or coaching experience
- Five years of senior level leadership experience within Division 1 athletics, professional sports, or a combination of both
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
- Professional work environment
- Significant night and weekend hours
- Some travel required

The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
