The Role

Within the Data Science team and in collaboration with other departments, your mission will be to develop optimization solutions for complex business problems. You will work on designing, analyzing, and experimenting with operations research techniques to support tactical and strategic decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with business experts to understand and translate business needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to transform requirements into solutions.
  • Propose new algorithms and approaches for complex problems such as resource planning, scheduling, facility location, and network design.
  • Develop, validate, and deploy simulation and optimization models to inform decisions.
  • Gather and structure data from various sources for optimization models.
  • Identify relevant KPIs and metrics to guide optimization objectives.
  • Communicate results effectively to stakeholders and business units.
  • Support IT teams in industrializing and integrating algorithms.
  • Engage with academic and industrial partners for discussions and collaborations.
  • Handle complex issues independently, escalating only the most challenging cases.

Qualifications

  • MSc or PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or related fields.
  • Strong background in operations research and optimization techniques.
  • Proficient in Python/R and C++ programming.
  • Experience with solvers like CPLEX, Gurobi, etc.
  • Good SQL skills.
  • Knowledge of the logistics industry; maritime industry knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data science technologies such as Data Analysis and Machine Learning is advantageous.
  • Experience with data querying languages and statistical software.
  • Ability to design and apply algorithms effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, and innovative mindset focused on customer value.
