Moody's in Paris seeks a Data Scientist intern to build signals from structured and unstructured data and generate predictions. You will design explainability tools for non-data scientists and collaborate with technology teams to create robust data ingestion pipelines.

You will communicate results to business stakeholders, train ML models for predictive analytics, and work with ratings and research teams to infuse domain expertise while staying current with ML, NLP, and generative AI trends.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a master’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics or related field.
• Strong foundation in machine learning and explainability methods.
• Experience with NLP, generative AI, and AI-assisted development tools.
• Fluent in English with excellent communication skills.

Skills and Competencies

• Experience in machine learning, with a strong understanding of algorithms and their underlying principles
• Strong understanding of methods and tools for explaining machine learning predictions
• Hands-on experience with generative AI and natural language processing
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools to support coding, testing, and debugging while critically reviewing outputs
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Knowledge of Git, version control, and collaborative development practices
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Previous experience in corporate finance or debt markets is preferred
• Fluency in English

Education

• Currently pursuing a master’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related quantitative field
• Expected to graduate between July and December 2027
• Availability to work for a 6 months internship starting in April 2027 (flexible)

• Collaborate with subject matter experts from ratings and research teams to incorporate fundamental expertise into machine learning and generative AI solutions
• Stay current with developments in data science, machine learning, and generative AI

About the Team

Within the AI & Analytics team, the Data Scientist will contribute to the development of machine learning and generative AI solutions for high-impact initiatives. The Data Scientist will focus on designing and training predictive analytics models, extracting signals from unstructured data, and creating high-value solutions that translate quantitative predictions into actionable insights for the business.

A successful candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of the key stages of machine learning and generative AI projects, including model development, evaluation, and MLOps. The candidate should also be innovative, results-oriented, and autonomous, with the ability to deliver project components under tight deadlines when required.

The data science team works closely with the technology, rating, and research teams, as well as other departments. The candidate should therefore be able to collaborate across multiple teams and communicate clearly and effectively with business representatives unfamiliar with data science.
