Data Management Officer

The Data Management Officer will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and maintaining project database to ensure accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting. The role involves developing data collection tools, ensuring compliance with data standards, and supporting decision-making through data-driven insights.

Duties:

Data Management & Integrity:

• Develop and maintain a project database to store, manage, and retrieve data efficiently.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security in compliance with organizational policies and data protection regulations.
• Establish and implement data quality control measures, including validation and verification processes.

Data Collection & Analysis:

• Design and oversee data collection methodologies, ensuring they align with project objectives.
• Train project staff and field teams on data collection tools and protocols.
• Perform data cleaning, processing, and analysis to generate meaningful insights.
• Identify trends, gaps, and key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to project goals.
• Generate periodic reports, dashboards, and presentations based on data insights.
• Support project teams with evidence-based decision-making through data-driven reports.
• Develop visual representations (charts, graphs, tables) to enhance data interpretation.

System Development & Maintenance:

• Manage and update data management systems and tools as needed.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure the proper functioning and security of data systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to data collection and storage systems.

Compliance & Best Practices:

• Ensure adherence to ethical standards and legal requirements in data management.
• Implement best practices in data governance, privacy, and security.
• Support audits and evaluations by providing accurate and timely data.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Information Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in data management, preferably in a project or development setting.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must:

• Have proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, R, Python or similar).
• Be experienced with database development and management including data visualization.
• Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Be knowledgeable in data protection and security best practices.
• Have excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
