Our client is a climate-tech startup on a mission to make rooftop solar more effective and affordable building a platform that optimizes home energy storage using real-time data and machine learning to reduce carbon emissions lower costs and make solar accessible to more households recently closed its seed round and rolling out to early users offering a remote-first setup with flexibility a small and ambitious team where early hires have real ownership and impact looking for someone proactive with strong communication skills and attention to detail motivated by climate impact and data-driven solutions.
The Role:
We're looking for a Data Analyst to join our client’s founding team and take a leading role in how we manage, interpret, and leverage data across our client’s platform.You'll work closely with engineering, product, and leadership to monitor and refine our optimisation models, deliver insights to enhance customer outcomes, and drive strategic decision-making. As one of our client’s first data-focused hires, you'll have significant autonomy and influence. Youʼll work with the Head of Product to define best practices for data analysis and monitoring, design performance metrics, and work across technical and business domains to ensure that data remains a core strength of our client company.
What you will do:
- Leading the analysis of large, complex time-series datasets from a range of sources (energy storage systems, home appliances, environmental data).
- Monitoring the performance of our optimisation and forecasting models, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Designing, implementing, and owning key performance indicators KPIs to track customer outcomes and system performance.
- Rapidly diagnosing and investigating customer-facing or system issues using a data-driven approach.
- Supporting and enhancing the development of new models for forecasting, optimisation, and predictive analytics.
- Collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to turn analysis into action.
- Providing input into business and product strategy based on data insights and emerging trends.
-Helping to shape data processes, tooling, and culture as we scale.
What you will bring:
-Ideally, 4 years of experience in a data analysis, data science, or analytics engineering role.Advanced SQL skills and extensive experience working with relational databases (e.g., Cloud SQL, BigQuery).
- Proficient in Python for data analysis (Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter, etc.).
- Significant experience working with complex time-series datasets.Strong understanding of either linear optimisation techniques or machine learning for predictive analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex datasets into actionable insights for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-Strong problem-solving instincts and an intuitive grasp of real-world system behaviours reflected in data.
-Self-directed and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
-Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, low-ego approach.
-Motivated by climate impact and passionate about building real-world solutions.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working in energy systems/utilities or with smart/IoT devices.
- Experience in early-stage startups or small cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with cloud-native data tooling (Google Cloud Platform preferred).
- Experience establishing data monitoring and reporting frameworks from Scratch.
