The CSM Engine Business Lead is a key role within L&H Actuarial Technical Support and L&H Technical Financial Reporting.The L&H CSM Engine is a tool for calculating key IFRS17 results for actuarial liabilities. It is therefore a key tool in the IFRS17 L&H Actuarial and Accounting chain and the role holder will be responsible for providing business insight, ensuringcontinuous development of these tools and their full integration in the reporting chain.
The role holder will also support the L&H Technical Financial Reporting team in building integrated, optimized financial processes across the organization and facilitating agile decision-making based on robust information and data analysis. This includes the management and development of further tools, for example Python, used for analysis by SCOR’s Technical Financial Reporting team.
The successful candidate will need to work very closely with the wider teams across the SCOR Global organisation, most notably Group Finance, Group IT and Data Office, Regional Valuation & Finance teams, and External IT developers, amongst others.
IFRS 17 and CSM Engine
Duties to fulfil this role include the following:
- Working in an Agile environment to continuously review the business needs, refine priorities & deliverables, identify opportunities and risks.
- Being the subject matter expert for the CSM Engine and its integration into the Life IFRS17 reporting chain.
- Being the subject matter expert for the Python analysis tools that support L&H Technical Financial Reporting team.
- Developing the product roadmap for both of the above, balancing the requirements of various stakeholders.
- Developing, identifying, collecting and managing detailed business requirements, user stories, use cases and acceptance criteria.
- Supporting the build of actuarial datasets in a flexible and consistent approach, ensuring a high standard of data quality and enhanced collaboration with CSM/ RDWH data users (Central and Local Actuarial and Finance teams), in collaboration with the Data Office.
- Working closely with IT developers to ensure developments are fit for purpose, including appropriately challenging proposals and IT technical specifications.
- Owning development and release of enhancements to the Python tooling, following Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practice in a secure, stable and scalable way – to include production and maintenance of all supporting documentation.
- Informing the product features, vision & strategy and where required, presenting and seeking approval on recommendations for implementation from the appropriate governance bodies.
- Ensuring strong emphasis on efficiency, automation, flexibility and control design.
- Collaboration with global stakeholders and end-users including IT, Business Leads & Senior Management.
- Leading both the individual UAT activities and full End-to-End testing related the CSM engine, interfaces, reports and controls.
- Supporting with query resolution and leading the delivery of training to users / stakeholders.
Others
- Supporting Head of L&H Actuarial Technical Support in the design of optimal processes & reports to support BAU.
- Participate in the design of the target process for activities beyond the scope of the closing, for example simulations and planning
- Leading or participating in ad-hoc projects or topics as needed or when requested.
Required experience & competencies
- Extensive experience with actuarial system development projects and product development
- Project management experience, ideally working in an Agile environment
- Considerable experience in and knowledge of actuarial methodology and actuarial financial reporting processes (including both IFRS17 & SII) (5 years +)
- A track record in innovation and delivering realised process enhancements and automation
- Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
- Enthusiasm for promoting best coding practise and/or optimising existing scripts
- Knowledge of Finance & Accounting processes
- Industry knowledge of reinsurance business
- Excellent IT skills of standard software (MS Office)
- Hands on release management experience
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Innovative, flexible and adaptive to changing requirements
