Purpose
To take full responsibility of Credit Function for NB France Wholesale Customers
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a Team of 2 credit controllers responsible for New Balance France Ledger
- Individual Learning & Development – ensure all members of the team have Learning &Development plans in place and these are reviewed on a regular basis
- Responsibility for annual performance discussions
- Cash Collection Targets - Set and monitor Monthly/Yearly Cash Targets addressing/questioning any shortfalls
- Aged Debt Reviews - Ensure 60/90 + Days debt is kept under 1% for French Ledger. Set monthly Aged Debt Targets & conduct regular reviews with the team
- Customer Queries - Oversee timely resolution of all customer queries ensure liaison with internal departments as necessary:
- Price/Discount
- Shortages/Late deliveries
- House-keeping - Ensure all accounts are updated within ERP detailing all activity/communication with customer regarding payment/queries. Regularly review any credit balance’s on customer’s account
Daily Tasks
- Responsible for the New Balance France Ledger
- Manage a ledger of Wholesale customers/buying groups customers
- Cash Collection
- Chase for payment by both email and phone
- Agree and negotiate payment plans when required
- Account Reconciliations
- Query resolution
- Process improvements
- Building relationships/regular communications with other Markets, Customer Services and Sales Teams
- Cashflow Forecasting – Ensure accurate data is provided to Treasury department with regards to cash due and agreed to assist with accurate French Cashflow forecasting
- Suspended Orders - Cover & Escalation point for Orders on Stop due to overdue or over Credit Limit
- Claims register - Increased authority to approve for any manual credits/recharges raised for New Balance France prior to input
- Credit Risk/Insurance – to ensure that all credit risk is reviewed in line with the EMEA credit policy, escalating to the EMEA Credit Manager when necessary.
- Ensure all new customers have a credit review/limit/Pro forma agreed
- MEP Reporting – ensure all customers outside of MEP are reported within credit insurance platform
- Regular Orderbook reviews with Sales Team to ensure sufficient cover in place to ensure orderbook conversion
- Review Customer Terms to reduce exposure - payment/method/order phasing/payment plans/pro forma
- Monthly review with the EMEA Credit Manager and local Finance Manager - reviewing ledgers & risk to ensure we are compliant with the EMEA credit policy and Shared Service Centre SLA.
- Customer Meetings - to attend customer meetings as and when required to ensure continued focus on customer relations, prompt payment & query resolution
- Bad Debt Reviews - Action any documentation received regards customers in Administration/Insolvency. Ensure Management Accountants are updated to ensure relevant accruals are in place. Ensure approval is obtained from EMEA Credit Manager for any bad debt write off’s
- Sales Orderbook Meetings - attend sales calls and highlight any concerns regarding credit/payment that might impact on orderbook conversion
- Audit Support - Support on Annual Audit providing relevant reports and documentation requested
Skills/Qualities
- At least BTS level (2 years)
- Knowledge of credit insurance & risk (essential)
- Proven credit control experience - minimum 2 years (essential)
- Experience in leading a team (essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English and French essential)
- Team player
- IT skills – Microsoft excel & D365 desirable
- Admin skills and ability to work within a busy Finance/Credit Control team
- Strong leadership skills
- Build and develop strong cross functional relationships
- Excellent track record of development and implementing new or improved processes
- Attention to detail
- Solution and growth mindset
- Excellent numeracy and keyboard skills
- Able to organise own and team’s workload
- Sporting goods background - preferable
