Job Summary:

We are seeking a Coordinator of Confirmation who is passionate about both Sacramental Preparation and ministry. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to living a life guided by the Holy Spirit and will excel in creating relationship-focused programs. Additionally, they should possess skills in administration and logistics. The Coordinator must be bold, confident, and effective in engaging with young people, as well as their parents and families. It is also essential that the Coordinator maintains a professional demeanor and is self-motivated and driven.

The Coordinator of Confirmation will report to the Director of Youth Ministry. The Youth Ministry department is responsible for the spiritual formation of students in grades 6-12, which includes preparing them for the sacrament of Confirmation and addressing any special sacramental needs. As a member of the Youth Ministry team, this individual will collaborate with the Director of Youth Ministry, the Coordinator of Youth Ministry, and parish volunteers. Their primary focus will be on areas directly related to Confirmation, which occurs in 8th grade, as well as Sacramental Preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

Formation/Sacramental Preparation of 6th-12th grade students

  • Attend and help run youth nights for both middle and high school students that include specific elements of Confirmation and Sacramental Prep.
  • Prepare and facilitate the Confirmation-specific content for these nights (i.e. finding speakers, writing/preparing curriculum, implementing activities, leading games, giving talks, etc).
  • Along with the Director and Coordinator of Youth Ministry, helping plan and implement a yearly 8th Grade Confirmation Weekend Retreat and assisting where needed in the ongoing formation of adult volunteers.

Planning, implementing, and recording Confirmation and Special Sacraments

  • Coordinate registration for the Sacramental Prep Year (which includes updating forms, answering questions, meeting with parents, etc).
  • Work with the parish staff/priests/Diocesan office/adult volunteers to schedule, coordinate, and logistically plan Confirmation Masses and Special Sacraments.
  • Preparation for the Confirmation Masses includes ensuring all liturgical needs are met, creating seating charts and Saint cards, recruiting adult volunteer help, coordinating rehearsals, etc).
  • Record received Sacraments in the necessary locations.

Parent Communication

  • Effectively communicate with students and families regarding the process of Confirmation and Sacramental Preparation (this includes regular email communication, answering phone calls, parent meetings, etc).
  • Working with the Director of Youth Ministry to manage (with intentional care and love) families who have specific needs/difficulties when it comes to attending elements of the Confirmation program, in particular the Confirmation Retreat.
