Sustainable Finance Senior Consultant/Social Specialist

France Offices – Paris, Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, (with flexible/remote working option)

To succeed in this role, you must have demonstrable experience in supporting environmental and social input to complex international development projects and a good knowledge of international lender E&S standards, including the IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, and the OECD Common Approaches. Specialist knowledge and expertise in Social disciplines, in particular, is highly desirable.

Your new role

As our new Sustainable Finance Senior Consultant/Social Specialist, you will be part of our renowned Sustainable Finance team, within our Global Impact Assessment Global Service Line. Based in France, you will work closely with approximately 70 colleagues across our global offices in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Americas. Working for both borrowers/sponsors and lenders, the team’s core services support the bankability of international development projects. You will have the opportunity to work on prestigious projects across various geographies and sectors.

Your key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical input and delivery, including report writing and internal reviews, on Independent Environmental & Social Consultant (IESC) projects for environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) and impact assessment (ESIA).
  • Managing small to large-scale IESC ESDD and ESIA projects.
  • Supporting site audits and monitoring visits globally as part of IESC ESDD.
  • Assisting in proposal management and writing.
  • Supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Finance business development plan.

Your key deliverables within the first 12 months will be to:

  • Support E&S due diligence assessments for lenders.
  • Assist in E&S impact assessments for borrowers/sponsors to meet international standards.
  • Develop proposals.
  • Contribute actively to business development and client relationship growth.

Your starting point for growth

We will support your personal and professional development from day one. Your starting point should include:

  • Strong project management skills, including financial management.
  • Technical expertise in social aspects of international standards: labor conditions, occupational health and safety, human rights, supply chain assessments, resettlement, livelihood restoration, cultural heritage, etc.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant environmental or social discipline.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in technical report writing and presentations in both French and English.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technical specialists.
  • At least 5 years’ practical experience implementing international E&S standards, including IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles, and OECD approaches.
  • Consultancy experience from 5 to 15 years.
  • Fluency in English and French; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of the EU Taxonomy is a bonus.
  • Willingness to undertake short-term international field visits.
  • Driver’s license is desirable.
  • Residency and work eligibility in France (including existing work visas if applicable).
