The EHS Specialist will guide our local service organizations across EMEA to be compliant with all safety and health regulations. He / she will drive the implementation of a Donaldson safety environment and behavior. He / she will be responsible for implementing and ensuring the use of all necessary safety instruments (PPE, training, certifications, incident registration and follow-up…) to create a ‘best in class’ safe service organization. The safety specialist will be involved in risk analysis for specific service activities.

Our desired candidate has a first experience in aligning development targets and objectives with overall environmental, health and safety strategies. The ability to organize, implement, train, follow-up, and manage EHS-related matters is essential.

Success is dependent on providing appropriate information and tools people need to perform their work in a compliant, incident-free manner. Experience of implementing and sustaining EHS programs with a strong desire to make a difference is an absolute plus.

The EHS Specialist will report to the Senior Service Manager of the EMEA Service Support Group.

This position can be based in our EMEA HQ in Belgium (Leuven) or any of our offices in Germany (Haan), Spain (Terrassa), Italy (Opera), or France (Vigny).

Role Responsibilities :

  1. Oversee the Environmental, Health and Safety performance of the EMEA Service organization.
  2. Create and maintain tools to ensure full safety compliance of our service teams.
  3. Ensure conformance to the Donaldson EHS Framework and compliance with local regulatory requirements.
  4. Guide, support, and provide tools to the service leaders on how to change mindsets, practices, and manage risk to improve employee and environmental safety and wellbeing.
  5. Actively participate in the site Safety Committee and provide advice to the annual action plans.
  6. Manage exposures identified through services risk assessment process, e.g., review of equipment specific lockout procedures, validation of hot work permits, management of hazardous wastes, first-aid & fire team, machine guarding, etc.
  7. Investigate incidents and maintain all required (legal) EHS documentation and reports.
  8. Conduct employee training to assess compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  9. Ensure preventive maintenance for EHS-critical equipment and processes.
  10. Participate in Approved Service partners audits to ensure our partners' safety commitment.

Minimum Qualifications :

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area.
  2. Level 2 Prevention Advisor certificate or an equivalent EHS education/certification in an EU country.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills to both internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Has worked in an industrial environment for a minimum of 2 years; safety experience is a plus.
  5. No previous international experience is required, but the will and interest to get to know EHS regulations in different EMEA countries is a must.
  6. Valid driver’s license of at least category B.
  7. Speak English fluently; other languages like Dutch, French, German or Italian are a plus.
