Description du poste

The International Potato Center (CIP) seeks to recruit two (2) dynamic Consultants (Molecular Biologist) for the West Bengal Project: ‘Developing local Seed Potato Production System in West Bengal’.

The Position : The selected candidates will be based in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. They will supervise operations at the locations, coordinate with consultants, and report to the Principal Scientist.

Consultancy Fee : INR 40,000 - 45,000 per month, depending on experience and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose potato seed and soil-borne diseases such as scab, wart, PCN, Ralstonia, and viruses using ELISA, PCR, LAMP assay, microscopy, and morphological diagnostic methods.
  • Develop and implement plant diagnostic and prevention programs; conduct, analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot diagnostic results.
  • Provide information on integrated approaches to monitoring, managing, and controlling pests and diseases in root and tuber crops.
  • Prepare inventory lists and requisitions for reagents and supplies.
  • Advise on safety measures for the transport, handling, storage, usage, and disposal of pesticides, fungicides, and nematicides.

  • MSc in Plant Pathology (PhD preferred but not required).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in molecular laboratories.
  • Experience in project coordination and stakeholder engagement.

  • Willingness to travel and work in rural, resource-limited areas.
