Job summary

Cardinal Creek Residence seeks a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to lead nursing care and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. You will complete assessments, contribute to care planning, and ensure documentation aligns with CNO standards.

The role emphasizes safe, compassionate, person-centered care, medication administration, and infection prevention within FLTCA and O. Reg. 246/22 guidelines. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Current General Class registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)
• Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or a RN registered with a regulatory authority in a Canadian jurisdiction
• Demonstrated ability to practice in alignment with CNO practice standards and guidelines
• Strong documentation practice and commitment to meeting CNO documentation expectations
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, residents, and families
• Willingness to complete interRAI training within one year of hire
• Commitment to person-centered care, preserving dignity and choice

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate person-centered nursing care aligned with Residents’ Bill of Rights
• Complete nursing assessments and update care plans with the team
• Communicate changes in resident status to residents/SDMs and ensure follow-up
• Contribute to care planning and documentation (including interRAI)
• Maintain accurate documentation per CNO standards and home policies
• Administer medications and treatments following policy and procedures
• Identify/report medication errors and participate in prevention
• Support clinical programs under FLTCA/O. Reg. 246/22
• Apply infection prevention practices and promote safety
• Collaborate with PSWs and interdisciplinary team; provide coaching
• Support positive resident/family experience and service recovery
• Participate in audits, quality initiatives, and accreditation readiness
• Order/monitor nursing supplies and equipment
• Respect patient confidentiality and comply with PHIPA
• Use approved digital tools to support documentation and trend awareness
• Ensure documentation quality while maintaining clinical judgment
