Within the Electrical and Propulsion Domain, reporting to the Wheelset & Drive System Commodity Director, the Commodity Manager will be responsible for the wheelset and bearings category (~300M€/year) with a worldwide supplier footprint.

The Commodity team you will lead is interfacing and leading an extended network across Alstom's product management, project teams, and suppliers to secure the supply of core bogie component technologies. You will be accountable for the performance of your category as well as in charge of formalizing and deploying worldwide sourcing strategies.

The position requires open-mindedness and a wide range of interests around market dynamics, negotiation, pricing, manufacturing processes, and risk management (geopolitical, financial, technological, etc.).

In your role, you will particularly:

  • Lead a team of 2 commodity leaders
  • Animate and coordinate a large network across Alstom's global organization to ensure business objectives are met end-to-end from tenders to projects in strict compliance with procurement processes.
  • Build and drive comprehensive strategies in close coordination with Product Managers and Alstom Regional organizations in charge of tenders and projects
  • Optimize commodity procurement performance through transversal cost improvement initiatives, tactical plans, multi-scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of value-added manufacturing processes and costs, market intelligence, and apply this knowledge to influence and drive procurement decisions.

  • A business school or engineering degree, preferably complemented with a degree in Purchasing
  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience in an industrial and international matrixed purchasing organization
  • Proven track record in leading sourcing, purchasing, and negotiation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data and make recommendations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization internally and externally
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes competing priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other functions
