Career Opportunity: Commissioning Technician-Critical Power
Location: Northern VA/Manassas
Full Time, Direct Hire Position
Salary: $40-$80 per Hour Plus OT & Bonuses
Power Careers is representing a confidential, global provider of mission-critical power and energy-management solutions serving data centers and industrial facilities. We're seeking Commissioning Technicians-Critical Power to support electrical commissioning activities across the U.S (mostly local) with a primary focus in Northern Virginia. This role partners closely with the Electrical Commissioning Lead and Engineering leadership to ensure safe, compliant, on-time start-ups and handoffs of critical electrical systems.
Responsibilities
- Support the Electrical Commissioning Lead on assigned projects across the AMER region.
- Attend client commissioning/coordination meetings and provide hands-on support to third-party commissioning agents.
- Perform installation verifications, start-ups, and commissioning on critical electrical equipment (e.g., switchgear, remote power panels, power distribution units).
- Assist with FAT/SAT and punch-list closeout; coordinate activities with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and engineering.
- Generate and maintain commissioning documentation per company/client procedures; produce accurate progress reports.
- Provide technical support to clients and third-party agents; escalate issues and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate approvals for work in live facilities and uphold all safety, quality, and conduct standards.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical product lines and travel to customer sites as required.
- Maintain high-quality internal records for customer-supplied equipment.
- Report to the Electrical Commissioning Lead; collaborate closely with Engineering.
What You'll Bring
- Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of electrical theory, control circuits, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams.
- Awareness of hazards associated with electrical energy and LOTO best practices.
- Working knowledge of industrial communications (Modbus TCP/RTU, Industrial Ethernet).
- Proficiency with MS 365; ability to create/mark up technical documentation (e.g., Adobe, Bluebeam).
- Familiarity with mechanical systems in a critical environment is a plus.
- Ability to demonstrate compliance with relevant standards and client specifications.
- Experience
- Prior experience with critical electrical power systems in regulated/mission-critical environments.
- Hands-on background with switchgear, RPPs, PDUs, installation verification, start-ups, and commissioning.
- Exposure to review/specification development and Factory/Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT).
- Certifications
- NFPA 70 (NEC) familiarity/certification.
- OSHA-10 (or higher).

Work Authorization
Must hold valid U.S. work authorization; a current U.S. passport is for occasional international travel. Fluency in English required.
