Job Description:
As a Mobile Automation Commissioning Engineer with KION North America, you will be the technical, on-site lead for automated guided forklift (AGF) projects. You will be an essential member of the project engineering team, focusing on the integration of automated material handling equipment systems. Your responsibilities include ensuring the performance of AGFs and their interactions with racking, conveyor, system I/O, and software. Internally, you will support project managers, systems engineers, software engineers, and mechatronics engineers/technicians. Externally, you will maintain relationships with the customer project team as their technical, on-site integration contact during project execution and commissioning phases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with engineering leads on technical design, development, application, and implementation of integrated hardware and software systems.
- Identify and resolve complex problems through application of problem-solving skills in AGF projects/systems.
- Participate in testing complex stand-alone and integrated AGF systems (hardware and software).
- Review and utilize project/vehicle/hardware specifications and documentation.
- Utilize AutoCAD with custom drafting tools for designing and refining system maps/layouts.
- Work with customers on full system approval and acceptance.
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors.
- Generate commissioning checklists and provide daily/weekly site reports.
- Perform duration testing and generate/compile reports.
- Assist project management in developing commissioning plans and schedules.
- Support site personnel during system startup and go-live activities.
- Develop strong customer relationships.
- Collaborate on process and productivity improvements, cost reductions, and customer satisfaction.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
Tasks and Qualifications:

- Experience with material handling automation equipment; preferably AGV/AGF, pallet conveyor, and/or ASRS.
- Experience with WMS, WCS, or control software preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Self-starter who takes initiative to identify issues and pursue resolutions.
- Ability to work well under high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and software architecture.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and customer-focused.
- Computer skills: AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, including Visio.
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field.
Travel Requirements: Up to 90% travel.
