Qualifications

• Strong technical fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
• Proficient with CAD or other design software.
• A system engineering approach to problem-solving and design trades.
• Experience writing software in languages like Python.
• Familiarity with cryogenic fluids is an asset.
• Fluency in English.

Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

We are seeking a talented Combustion Device Design Engineer to join our Propulsion Systems division. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing combustion devices for cryogenic engines.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the functional and hydraulic design of combustion devices

• Review subsystem requirements and carry out trades to define the combustion devices' architecture

• Lead combustion devices, components, and assembly test campaigns (configuration definition, test preparation, execution and results analyses)

• Develop and update fluidic models based on literature review and/or experimental data

• Iterate subsystem designs using simulated and/or real-world test data

What we would love to see from you:

• Master’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience

• Hands-on experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypes

• Strong technical fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and heat transfer

• Proficient with CAD (Siemens NX is an asset), or other design and analysis (FLUENT or OpenFOAM preferred) software

• A system engineering approach to problem-solving and design trades

• Experience writing software in languages like Python

• Familiarity with cryogenic fluids is an asset

• Fluency in English
